Interesting as he won't be in our strongest test team

What a joke of a brand Newbery has become.

Especially how on twitter they made a deal over being back on the internationnscene seems a bit weak from them, but if kookaburra pay more can't blame trj for moving

This tends to happen to the smaller brands in cricket when their pro players make it to the bigger stage, but I always thought of Newbery as one of the bigger brands around. It is easy to see why TNF couldn't hang onto Agar, and D&P couldn't keep Philander when competing with the bigger brands, but I would have thought Newbery would be able to hang onto their first international pro in a while.

Mason Crane is also with Newbery, so a similar thing might happen with him.

As good as TRJ is, Anderson, Broad, Stokes and Woakes are pretty likely to be the standard pace/swing attack.

If Anderson does retire from International cricket (hope not yet!) then there is Ball, Woods, Plunkett and a few others in the queue including TRJ.
So I wonder if Kookaburra have some inside info that TRJ is definitely next man in, or whether they are making a judgement!?

Jake Ball was snapped up by GM as soon as he got an international call up...

Reckon Kook just realised with Jennings getting dropped they haven't got any sponsored players anywhere near the England test side! TRJ must have been the easiest option to buy out of their current contract, and if he bangs sixes for England like he does for Middlesex he'll probably sell a few bats. Reckon he's been the best performer out of the reserve queue on early viewing at least, and with Broad/Anderson injuries and rests getting more common he's bound to play a reasonable amount of games.

If Stoneman makes runs this series, I'd bet good money he won't be walking out at Brisbane with a Kippax in hand.
