I have 4 pairs
2 x keeley
a pair of H4L custom
a pair of Neon

My main pair are my Keeley Superiors but use the others at nets etc to help break them in etc and to keep my Keeleys for matches

@SLA That is probably true, only ever faced one genuine 85 mph plus fast bowler, and it felt ludicrously fast.  Anything straight I could hit, anything wide and I wasn't getting anywhere near it.  I guess you would get used to the pace eventually, but after taking one between my hip bone and lowest rib that looked like an emerging black and blue planet the size of a volleyball afterwards I suspect it would take a few painful bumps to get to that point.  Frightening to think that that is the standard pace the pros face.  That said, I think outright pace is less scary than the mystery spin they face at about 60 mph.  No idea how they hit a well directed ball turning a foot and a half at that pace.

I toured Barbados when I was younger as an opening bat and faced guys only a few years away from having played test cricket. Quicker than anything I've faced in the UK either before or since. I survived for 20 overs without receiving a ball in my half and scored 20 entirely in edges to fine leg. They then brought a lollipop spinner on, I thought thank god for that and first ball I got triggered with the dodgiest lbw I've ever had. I also took a Yorker straight onto the ankle that swelled up once I took my boot off and I and couldn't walk for a week.

There aren't many bowlers who bowl 78mph in non-professional cricket no matter what day of the week it is. If you're not a professional cricketer and you're not playing against professional cricketers, you're wasting your money buying top of the range kit, frankly. You don't need it against 60-70mph stuff.

There are a lot of bowlers who think they bowl 80... get them in front of a speedo and see their faces drop when they top out at 72. Saw this numerous times at Ponty's fast bowling clinic.

Slightly disagree with that you get hit on the gloves with a brand new ball it can hurt. Earlier this season was just wearing some 30 quid gloves, new ball hit me on the little finger and broke it.

I got a bowling machine ball to the thumb at 70mph yesterday, it's a bit sore but I'm fairly certain it's just bruised.

Thank goodness I had test grade gloves on  ;)

It seems the bas player gloves are best value for money and very good protection against new ball. Shame Uzi no longer stocks the tendulkar

Had a clearout and now my only pair have a gert hole and the palms have gone slimy... it is a sign from the cricket gods to never skimp on quality and quantity of cricket kit in the house  :D The restocking must begin!

You must do your required penance and buy multiple gloves now.....and apparently 2 bats .  :D

I'm a little worried I'm being stalked as that is exactly what happened right down to the plus 2 bats :)

I have connections. ... :D

I’m at around 16 pairs, a lot still in packaging!
I like to keep 5 pairs in my bag during games
