Importing bats from Australia to U.K.
« on: September 05, 2017, 08:11:36 AM »

Has anyone imported bats from Australia? How much is the import duty and postage for each bat? Looking at GN range in Australia like Atomic, XXX and Velocity. When is the best time to buy from Australia?

Certain Atomic models will be available in the UK range as part of a limited run of Aus products

What was most interesting visiting various shops in Aus was that they all said the vast majority of the "interesting" Aus GN's were bought by overseas customers based on specs and pictures that look good on the internet. Once people saw these mythical bats in store they were generally not so taken by them and plumped for the more "normal" GN's, even at similar price points. I am a cynic at the best of times but I can see how this would happen as they wouldn't necessarily suit everyone.

I loved every bat I bought from AUS. I knew what I was getting because: a. I discussed the specs I wanted before hand, at length via phone/email; b. understood what I was getting from the vendor (in my case, Mueleman). They were honest about the pros and cons of the bat ("picks up heavy", "nothing going on with the toe". etc.). They also removed GST from the bat price so I didn't have to pay for it. I have had very good experience dealing with AUS guys. In NZ, I'd go either with MG2 or Laver. Both are top notch when it comes to quality of bats and service.

I imagine it's the reverse of what I experience!
Postage £30~50 depends who you are buying off in in the U.K., probably the same here.
10% GST excluded ( same as VAT being excluded ) $725 therefore $659 about £402

I never pay duty importing bats into Australia, don't tell anyone!
Best time would be March but supply may be an issue.

The best time to buy from Australia is when there's a sale on as the cost is lower, but the choice might not be so good. Otherwise, on a £400 bat you'll pay around £100 charges before they'll let it into the country and deliver it to you.

Maybe these "mythical" bats these various shops had in store weren't as special as the " mythical" ones I've had the pleasure to see, feel, caress, hold and use (if I wish to)
