I'd be interested to hear what tape it is.
I would have thought from a practical point of view, that the binding is also there to support and strenghten the area around the join between bat and handle. I can't imagine that the tape would do this job as well as the binding.......but then again, i dont know what wonder tape is being used!

it like zink oxide or seem very much like it mate the only reason i do it because my morkel came as like it and talking to a few players they do it too to there bats.

I guess though the handles and the bats are top quality i would not be trying it with a imported bats but i feel a more stiffer flex with the tape and i guess stiffness with elastisity is that were all after.

But hey mine came like that from the players bag otherwise i would have not done it and i have not used it so will not know if it works

Players might often build up the bottom hand shape with this tape, but SillyShilly is right, you need the binding on all handles for keeping the handle taut.

that a maybe mate but my bat came with the binding removed and when asked i was told to aide flex and a few do it.

I agree ot might not be best practice and make the handle a little less safer so to speak but it like drying a bat

Each to there own

Just cut most of the top k n o b off, leave about 2-3 mm above the binding. That makes it   almost like a sh.

Re tape  instead of binding, didnt SS sed to tape up a lot of there handels? In fairness ss hamdeps are rubbish!
