Fake Bats or Not.
« on: February 06, 2010, 09:08:19 AM »

Hi guys i know its a very hot subject at the moment with fake or damaged equipment but a disabled player we have is considering bidding on these two bats listed on e bay. As i am no great knoledge is there any chance you could have a looka and tell me what you think? As in worth it and fake or not etc, we have messaged the guy and he has no proof of purchase etc, and it might just be a case of buyer beware maybe.

from the front they look okay, but for some reason from behind the M+H bat doesn't look right... I'm not sure why. if there was a pic of the side profile it would be easier to tell. The grain quality on them both from the front looks good, but it would be nice if there was a close-up pic as well I suppose!

The M+H also looks like it may have repair tape to the last couple of inches of the toe.

Also he want's £175 as a buy it now price, and there are a few brand new bats you can get for that price or below, that will be equally as good in my opinion.

A Redback, and H4L or a blank SS per example.

I could name about 30 bats for that price that would be at least as good.

Your last point is very true. You are probably best buying from a well known retailer, or off someone on here with a good reputation. I also prefer to buy bats in person, as I like to pick up a bat and see how it feels. Therefore you can essentially tailor it to your needs without having to get it custom-made.

Yeah problem is most disabled cricketers don't have much money living on benefits and stuff due to poor health reasons, it would not be a problem if the ECB released some of the thirty eight million pounds they got from sport england to invest in Womens and Disabled cricket, which they are not going to do. I tell you guys if it were not for the members on this forum and the other cricket s**lies one we down here in Devon would have no kit at all for our disabled cricket team. Once again a big thank you for all your help especially all the people who sent in kitt.
