The pricings a joke, a complete peetake.
Doesn't matter if it's clever marketing or whatever.

Is that the time for the boutique brands to really make their mark by not charging over the odds and gaining more customers!? People aren't going to want to pay fortunes for bats and if they do I say more fool them! I'll stick to my butterfly blades they've never let me down yet

Exactly this.no shame for GN to charge whatever the want, smaller brands...going on the fact raw materials costs have not increased that much...have a better opportunity now than ever before

GN have to recoup money paid in sponsorship somehow-in the UK at least-we have a great choice of where to buy

every big price rise by the big boys has been followed by smaller brands for a long time so can't see this changing

I agree though if they kept prices sensible they could steal customers from the big boys

Knowing the cost of raw clefts  my view is its the big players dominating  market availability.

The cost of wood is just an excuse. It’s actually to cover the pay increases for the pros.
Don’t expect many brands to come out and say we’re increasing prices because mr cook wants more money.

My biggest moan is you'll never make more from something overly priced than you will at something reasonably priced. if they sell 2 £900 bats but sell 10 bats priced at £200. You haven't done a lot more for the extra 8 bats you sold.

I understand the costs of Clefts and the rareness of certain clefts do warrant the higher price for the effort made to find such things but not a £500/700 difference!

As I've tried to say I think the more of the general public will be more inclined to buy something more affordable.

GN currently have 16 SH Legend bats available on their live stock list. There will be more than this sold over the course of the 2018 pricing (September to September) but i would be surprised if it is more than (a very, very conservative estimate) 150 per year, and do remember that the overwhelming majority of bats sold by GN are sold at trade pricing which is well below £1000.

The tiny percentage of Legends sold every year is most definitely not to pay for ever increasing pro contracts. The Legend sells out every year, they have all but said to retailers that they are looking to find a ceiling on what was always supposed to be a very rare and exclusive product.

As much as I agree with most of what is being said, GN are perfectly entitled to continue to up the price on something where the supply has been outstripped by demand every single year since 2012 (and possibly in years before that)

I do feel this year will be the year where they don't sell out.

For the post above which doubts the quality of a Legend, all I can ask is where did they buy it from?

Presumably the Leg Ends are UK made? Including such luxuries as a cover as standard?

I see your point, but I think only the last picture is a "Perfect" bat. The rest are very good G1+, but for a grand? I want perfect.

You and many customers we've sold Legends to are of course well within your rights to expect a flawless bat when spending top end money.

As a quick aside none of those cost even close to £1000 though.

That's a huge difference in price
For that money, I'd be slightly ok with those bats pictured, they do look stunners
Like that ac630 😏

For that kind of money, go to GN-AUS and grab a Kranzie. You can't go wrong with his bats.

Apparently there maybe a shortage of top end clefts due to watermark desease affecting trees.
