Alastair Cook - Bat Inside Shoulder

Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but has anyone else noticed Cook's bat has the inside shoulder totally cut away?

Bizarre - any reason why?

Due to his bottom hand grip I think, he's had his bats done like this for the past couple of years.

Yeah I noticed it a while back, I think it's because his bottom hand is absolutely choking the shoulders

Niall O'Brien does the same. What a top bloke he is by the way.

From memory he reckons the glove padding on his thumb bashes the shoulder , causing his gloves to wear , but more importantly,  it would get his bottom hand grip out of position/slip etc .
As others have said , its due to extreme bottom hand choking grip .

I can never attach them! But I'm sure someone could be kind enough to on my behalf!

Can't believe it's taken me so long to notice..!

Right - older GN bat, saw, light sanding, black marker pen and ebay!! Genuine Cook bat - surely it would even make more than £510 the Buttler bat made?  ;)

I believe from memory Cook has done this for years, played at Maldon CC a few season before last which is his club and a couple of his bats in pavilion had the shoulder missing, for someone like me that chocks the handle maybe I’ll give it a go on an old bat.

On a separate not that possible Butler Bat was mental money anyone else got a verve a sharpie and want to put a swear word on top of the handle
