Another home test series
« on: November 16, 2017, 08:10:04 AM »

Just seen that India are starting yet another home test series. They must have played almost every other nation at home this year?

Surely that’s making a mockery of the test ranking system as they will be taking in the points.

Mid 2016 to end of 2017 - India has played close to 18-20 test matches with most of them being home series. Luckily Kohli became test captain in early 2016. The real test starts with the tour of South Africa in 2018. I don't understand why Sri Lanka bothers to play. I don't see them making an effort even to compete. Matthews, Chandimal, Thirimanne are veteran players of this Sri Lankan side, and they keep gifting their wickets. They are better off gifting trophies to opposing teams and stay at home.

Yup, it is so boring. Instead of crying that test cricket is dying, ICC should rather encourage more games between evenly ranked teams. it is a sureshot way to revive Tests.

I still dont understand why SA dont do a full 5 test series in Aus and vice versa often, Will be much more fun than the current Ashes Eng squad vs Aus. Would love to see if the aussie indulge in aggresive talk the way they are doing now..India should do 5 test series in Aus, Sa and Eng as well on true tracks and then evaluate the Ind batting prowess.. Just so many exciting possibilities, but alas, we only get the Ind vs SL, Sa vs Zimbabwe etc...

The biggest drama of this series so far with the Sri Lankan’s fielding in health masks and then refusing to play to do the smog. Topped off with them laughing as kohli was forced to declare. Clearly Sri Lanka did not want to continue to get smacked around

Again toothless cricket from the umpire and unable to control the match. As far as I’m concerned if Sri Lanka refused to play, it’s a forfeit. I’m sure they would’ve preferred that anyway

Sri Lanka is not interested in playing, they should just forfeit and go home.

Umpires should have red-carded the entire Sri Lankan playing XI  :D

Once he's in makes it look far too easy - clears the boundaries with ease

True. Some of his shots look like a lazy attempt to me, but it would be clearing the boundary ropes in reality.
