So India travel to SA next month, with a lot of Indian fans genuinely believing they have a good chance to perform well and come away with a draw at least in the Series.

I am not so sure, as they are playing no warm up games prior to the test series. And I think this makes it very difficult for them.

Whats the view here in the forum?

I think this is the best chance they have had in a long time.

They are taking over a squad with a couple of genuine quicks in Yadav and Shami.

We know what Kohli is capable of, so if Pujara etc.. chip in you never know.

Ultimately I think it will depend on what pitches get served up

defo their best chance in a long time but its unreal they are not playing even one warm up game prior to the test series.
cant see how they will adjust enough to win the first test. and if they lose that, they'll be on the back foot

Is playing no warm up any worse than playing the dross that is normally cobbled together?

I�m sure India will have a couple of middle session allowing They�re bowlers to bowl at heyre batters on a wicket should be much more use than a poor csa xi

Not sure why they didn't schedule the tour the other way round. Then can use the ODI series as warm ups

Let's not hope for a miracle. Problem is getting used to the conditions by going early and playing few tour matches which is impossible in today's times.
Almost all teams win at home and do not do that good overseas. A draw would be a win for sure.

Sorry to break it to you Indian fans, but your boys are gonna get slaughtered. South Africa will serve up green seamers, now that Steyn, Philander and Morkel are fully fit - throw in KG Rabada, and India's suspect batting line will get shredded.

During the recent India-SL series, Australian legend Matty Hayden suggested that KL Rahul and Murali Vijay opening would be India's only real hope to blunt South Africa. But India have already confirmed that Dhawan will open. His record away from Asia is poor. The likes of Pujara, Kohli and Rohit have poor records against the moving ball. Only Rahane has ability to deal with the moving ball but his form is terrible at the present.

South Africa have questions as well, the quotas some what handicap them, but aside from the seamers, their spinner looks really top class.

3-0 South Africa all day long.

This mention of warm up games I think is a good point, a few years ago no side would consider a major tour without warm up
Games or to get used to conditions etc but a mix of so much cricket and woefully poor �presidents teams etc makes them almost pointless.
I honestly think England would have got better prep in just having squad games in Aussie conditions or playing a ECB team of county players or vs the Lions.

Personally I think SA will walk the series as most Home sides do these days

India�s own fault re: warm up games. They decided to go with a pointless Odi and t20 series to generate revenue.

1st press conference Kohli says they didn't want warm up games because they would be useless because of the side and pitch CSA would put out etc... I wonder whether this will be the way more teams will go now that Kohli has actually come out and said it.

He does have a point, look at the side and tracks England had to play in Oz for their warm up games. Would have been better off playing the lions a couple of times who would have had a point to prove to stake a claim for the test side.

Kholi def does have a point and well doneforsayingit because this has gone on for years....yes England guilty of it as much as any other country.

Warm up matches extend the tour and should be scrapped therefore depriving whoever is holding the match of revenue.

Only then might the host board start taking notice.im not sure myself if the Lions are always in the same touring area but when they are def should play each other

Would a poor England side benefit playing a poor Lions side though? England only won 1 warm up game against CA X1 and had a draw with Western Australia X1 in most part they struggled and Lions got beat by Queensland X1. And after the Duckett episode I�d say there would have been a bit of tension between the sides.
