Batmaker called it a day believe he asked on here if someone wanted to learn the skills.

They are still going but focused on the training aid side of things, stumps used globally by lots of international teams. We spoke to them way back when about developing new products but sadly nothing developed from it.

Vantage

Been sold a few times and most recently purchased by DFCA who runs a cricket academy here in Bristol.

Id imagine quite a bit will pop up locally this forthcoming season.

I was going to say CJI but a quick google and their stuff still available. Our half-blind slogger swears by them.

I bought CJI blank bat kashmir willow for 40. Very cheap but I hit massive sixes with it. Opposition was in shock.

Ihsan are still around and doing well (in Pakistan). They do not market themselves as aggressively as as some of the other local brands (CA, HS, Malik) but their bats are not notch and very good value for money.

Just got to thinking about a few brands that have disappeared over the years, or more interestingly, ones that don't seem to be stocked as much or have lower profiles:

Ihsan
AS
AM
Surridge (bust?)
Matrixxxxx
Hammer
Roman Jaques
Kicking Horse
Funky

Do they just drift away through lack of marketing, do they need players on telly using their stuff to raise profile?

Ihsan is around and very much alive. In fact, it is one of the more popular brands where I play. A buddy of mine has an X1 that pings better than anything I've used in the last couple of years. There's 2-3 guys in the Pakistani national team currently using the X1 as their bat of choice.

Affinity still very much alive. I have a nice Carbine that I bought through the forum. They have the Voodoo now with a higher middle than the Carbine (mid) or Spectre (low). And they can make one to your specs.

I knew that IW sold it to a guy who owned quite a few businesses - but it seems to have gone extremely quiet from there.

I believe it was only their one model that was made by Salix. Can't remember the name but I'm pretty sure it was the one that was lazer-engraved.
