Eng V Aus V NZ T20 series

I see Sam Curran has just been called up to the squad. Undoubted talent and potential there I'm sure - but would we say he's the next cab off the rank?

Not yet, but I imagine they just want to give him a taste of international cricket.

he plays for Slurry, ergo he skips quite a few places?

Quite right - if he played for Yorkshire then Strauss would have murdered his pet rabbit instead!

Does he? In terms of producing players for England it's only been in the last 18 months where it's been noticeable, and even then Stoneman is a Surrey product.

You may mean isn't?

It would appear that young Mr Dawson is enjoying himself in the T20 warm up match - good on him!

An opportunity for a few fringe players to stake a claim it would seem.

and just as we were questioning if he had had a meaningful innings with the bat for England,

i know its not a t20i however this isnt an especially weak bowling attack for the pmxi

73 off 32 balls - go on son!!!!

I'm pretty sure someone clever like me suggested he was better used up the order and a fill-in bowler.

Only problem is, who out of Roy, Bairstow, Hales, Morgan, Root, Stokes, Buttler would you bat him ahead of?

Actually, put like that, the argument for Root missing T20 outside global comps to concentrate on other formats is quite compelling.

Root didn't get picked in he IPL before agreeing a rest with England, I'm sure he wanted the chance to make money and no one can blame him, Morgan, butler, stokes have all played recently.

But I just cannot see root playing all 3 formats. In the standard one day team you could argue he is our best player,to pace a one day innings, but he's not really a big hitter.

Could be wrong but focus will soon be on the WC in 2019, and a packed test schedule next year.

England needed to handle Root carefully, he is a diamond.

They do I think him playing T20 is pretty pointless.
