Law 5.7.2 bat sizes
« on: February 05, 2018, 05:59:14 PM »

Anyone able to give some info on how their league is implementing this, i.e. blanket from day 1, ignoring it, natural life of the bat etc

Despite using 2’8 toothpicks myself I’m trying to convince my league that a blanket ban on these bats is creating work and potential for argument with no benifit.

They won't catch us this time! Not this time! They haven't spotted us! No, they're all snoring in their bunks! Or, you know what? They're drinking at the bar, celebrating our sinking! Not yet, my friends. Not yet!

We just had AGM - obviously it is live in top level cricket now!
It filters down to Minor Counties in 2019 and my league in 2020. So I guess it gives me 2 years to get as much use as possible!
From 2020 onwards, Village cricket and midweek T20 games will be the only opportunity to swing any big boy bats I still have!

Just checked our league structure and they are implementing the rule this year straight away

Could be fun to see if umps have the proper gauge etc as they will need it to prove they are illegal

The first cricket box was used in 1874.  The first cricket helmet was introduced in 1974. So, it took 100 years for men to twig that their brains were also worth protecting.
