HELP!!!! What to do now
« on: February 15, 2018, 09:22:42 PM »

Took this bat to nets today and this is what happened. I clearly missed a spot when knocking but luckily I applied scuff sheet before nets.
Is this crack only scuff sheet cracked or wood underneath.
How could I fix it. Do I have to take sheet off or is there any way around it.

That is the ball used nothing to do with your knocking in.

Could this be fixed or its nothing to worry about.
This is the bat I really like so would like it to be fixed if it's concerning.

Pretty sure it’s mostly the scuffsheet. But worth removing it and have a look.

To remove scuff should I heat it first with hair dryer?

First Take the sheet off using an hair dryer there's posts on here explaining how To remove it without damaging the bat face clean of the residue and gently find sand out any damage along the grain on completion of sanding re knock the bat in

This is what I found under scuff. That small knot or Mark seemed like opened up a bit after impact.  It wasn't like this before.

IMO on ball impact the harder knot as widened and as caused a the softer wood around it to split may need a spot of glue i would give it a sand.

Looks quite dry as well maybe a light oil after the glue and a decent quality scuff sheet

If you only want a single sheet try this one. They are good quality cut from a roll.

If you have a few bats I suggest you buy a 2m length from vitas cricket.
