Newbery naming
« on: February 24, 2018, 06:40:50 AM »

Anyone else think Newbery are taking the piss a bit naming their last bat the phantom and then the latest offering the B1?

Presumably the Barrington 1, surely someone carries out some kind of market analysis before naming products within a relatively small marketplace ???

Not that it really matters (unless it's the same name bats as other manufacturers) but Newbery always were ahead of the game in the past with their model names.

No one came anywhere near the traditionally named bats and as a selling plus it helped them stay distinctive-I'm not in sales but that surely works becuae people remember the bat names more easily.

Not wishing to go off topic but I've just been on their website and non Newbery bat knocking in is 70 quid.  :)

Just  seems...well, I dunno....most bats come with anti scuff sheets these days and there's only so much you can do to the bat before using old balls in the nets.

I used to have a brilliant Mjolnir. When I saw Thor Ragnarok recently, one of the scenes made me think back to Newbery's heyday.

-----------

"I really wish I had my hammer. Quite unique, it was made from this special metal from the heart of a dying star, and when I spun it really, really fast, it gave me the ability to fly," Thor enthuses.

"You rode a hammer? The hammer rode you on your back," Korg replies, before Thor starts to talk about how the hammer would "pull me off the ground".

"Oh my God. The hammer pulled you off?," Korg notes with shock. "Sounds like you had a pretty special and intimate relationship with this hammer and that losing it was almost comparable to losing a loved one."

-----------

I miss that bat

It’s almost as if they were created by the same hand!

Spooky 😮

I actually love the shape and I quite like the stickers.

But then I’m an imbecile.

Agreed - it’s a looker.

But I’m also an imbecile.
