I read that Rabada receiving demerit points is due to him already being charged with similar offences. IIRC correctly the send off to Stokes?

Whereas Warner and Marsh don't currently have any charges on the ledgers.

Either way Rabada needs to reign it in.

Don't want to be racist but the asian umpires such as Dharmasena and Ravi seem to be more intimidated into selective responses by the Aussies.

I think send-offs are generally stupid but yeah, the inconsistent (selective might be a better word) enforcement of the rules is a joke.

I wouldn't even mind that so much if the Aussies weren't simultaneously the worst culprits and the biggest sooks about it!

It does seem like the mighty midget and friends do get away with more gobbing off!

But it's not the Aussies fault! Any players would do what they can to get under the oppositions skin and get the upper hand! If they are not pulled up about it, then they will carry on pushing!!
It is up to the Umpires. etc to get this under control and apply identical rules to both teams and all players on those teams!
Same as kids really! Let them get away with things over and over without punishing them, then you can't blames them for doing it! It is up to "those in charge" to set the limits and Police them!!

Also, it's all subjective, one man's playful banter is another's offensive insult. Can imagine it would be very hard to determine exactly where you draw the line.

Personally I can't imagine much someone could say to me to make me lose my rag, but in general there has to be a common sense application of basic decency.

Set a precedent, get the test captains to agree to it, but then train the umpires the use common sense in each situation.

A bit of needle and banter is acceptable, anything personal isn�t.

For Gods sake there is enough microphone technology available for the 3rd umpire to pick it up anyway- sounds like a few burying their heads.

Yeah, that stuff really annoys me. Australia (and England tbf) have that habit of acting like utter bellends when they're winning and then moaning like brats when they're losing and/or get a taste of their own medicine. It's 'hard but fair' when they do it but they can't bust out the "Spirit of Cricket" fast enough when other teams give them a bit of aggro.

The ridiculous enforcement of who gets punished and for what is the biggest problem though, fine Rabada gets punished for being a prat with a stupid send off but what about Marsh telling the bowler to eff off after he was dismissed? I want a red button option with no commentary but the stump mics turned up to the max so we can hear just how pathetic the 'banter' is and put an end to this rubbish about the 'spirit of cricket'

The powers that be don't care what players say, as long as the public doesn't know they said it, because it lets them continue to pretend it's a gentleman's game and that the sledging is witty banter and mind games instead of boorish invectives.

Aussies will try anything they think they can get away with to upset the opposition and have done so for years some of it barely legal they are also well aware of what they can get away with with each indidvidual umpire.
