They have given themselves every chance anyway.

Rain has stopped play and Scotland are five runs behind on DLS.

Looks like they will be back out in the not too distant future, got every chance, but if we don't manage to blow it no doubt the umpires will do it for us. Did anyone else see Berringtons lbw?

Oh no, poor Scotland. Match called off because of rain. So very close for Scotland, I feel so sorry for them. Just 5 runs behind on DL. That LBW call proved very expensive.

The irony of it - Scotland having their chances ended by rain, in Southern Africa.

ICC dropped the ball by reducing the number of nations at the 2019 World Cup. Sides like West Indies, Zimbabwe, Scotland, Ireland and Afghanistan should all be in the tournament.

Also I wonder how many of the Caribbean t20 mercenaries now declare their availability for the World Cup. Narine and Russell had issues. But the likes of Pollard, Darren Bravo etc can't be bothered to usual play for their country

I completely agree with this - the biggest global shop window in Cricket. What an enticement to players from the smaller cricketing nations as a goal to aim for. Then to have the experience of paying against the top cricket teams.

Whatever logistical issues the organisers face, surely they could have been overcome.

Cricket has quite a history of being an insular game, not looking for expansion. (eg Australia not playing a Test against New Zealand between 1946 and 1973. I hope England take a more positive view of Test cricket with Ireland - surely they can slip in the odd Test here and there).

And the Netherlands (though not to be judged by this tournaments efforts). They are a team in transition, missed Stephan Myburgh through injury and somehow seemed to hit the panic button.

It's an absolute shocking decision and without Scotland would be through.

@Mister Le Chiffre You look at a number of different sports around, they are trying increase and expand their sports. Whereas cricket is more than happy to reduce it.

The World Cup usually drags on endlessly so how does the ICC believe the removal of the associates/smaller Test playing nations be good for the game? In the upcoming football World Cup it's heading to Russia followed by Qatar. Neither are exactly footballing powerhouses.

Some of the players in the smaller sides deserve to be at the World Cup e.g. Coetzer, Kevin o'brien for Christ sake had the fastest World Cup hundred ever, ten Doeschate, Rashid Khan etc.

The thing is the world cup dragged on for ever because the scheduling didn't allow for two or three games a day. Which is mad.
