Scotland lose by 5 runs and Zimbabwe lose by 3 runs. So close for both teams trying to get into the World Cup.

Might be another close finish today, Afghanistan having a bit of an implosion, get Nabi early and it's game on I think.

I’m sure I’ve just read that even with only 10 teams the World Cup is schedules to take 7 weeks.....

Yep i have just seen that as well. Completely ridiculous! I thought the idea was reduce the teams and reduce the length of the tournament.

All they'll do is schedule 1 game per day. It will just drag on.

Just crazy!

If you’re going to do that, play 2 games a day at different times (one day and one day/night) and then add in the associate nations and split it into 2 groups.

the idea was to reduce the teams and ensure India play at least 8/9 games.

Yep realise the connotations around the big 3 getting more games etc... but I thought the tournament was going to last less time also.

Every team will play against the other 9 teams. The top 4 teams will qualify for the semifinals. That makes 45 group games with an awful lot of dead matches (and no minnows to root for). Guess the ECBand ICC need the money for their jolly/slush fund/ bribe pot. This is very, very shortsighted.

I hope India rest players against Afghanistan thinking they're safe, followed by Mo Shahzad battering 250 and Rashid Khan taking all 10 including bowling Kohli round his legs to send India out.

FIFA World Cup: 32 teams - 64 games

Rugby World Cup: 20 teams - 48 games

Cricket World Cup: 10 teams - 48 games

It's absolutely ridiculous

I feel bad for the Irish but I cannot deny that Shahzad's presence automatically makes the World Cup worth watching

It's ridiculous that the ICC would prefer to milk the Indian cash cow rather than develop the game as they should be. Even a 14 team World Cup is small but the above mentioned numbers regarding other sports. 7 weeks of watching the same teams again and again yet associate nations whom have lit up recent ICC events will be out in the cold.
