I've just seen this evening that the former Somerset Chairman Andy Nash has resigned from the ECB as a director.

Interesting times ahead if what is reported is true.

On the surface it's a fine gesture, but he said nowt when Durham were shafted, but when it's his county that's missed out...

I said at the time Durham got absolutely shafted by the ECB with demotion. the double standards is beyond belief

Yorkshire as well as having a 100 grand loan(hand out) from London to pay for ground improvements are being kept in the black by the personal wealth of Graves and have been for years.

You can say all day long the test grounds need to be brought up to standard and improved but the test 'club' has been so small no one else gets a look in.

Why can't we have a test match at the Somerset ground, the Kent ground, Northampton?

Either we have 18 counties or we don't, if they don't want them scrap everyone else and keep it to 6, then the game will go to hell in a hand cart.

Honestly, it makes my blood boil!

I support Middlesex by the way, not Kent(although my mate players for them) Northampton or Somerset.

What about a test at Chelmsford ? Post match a good night out in the pubs and club with half dressed Essex girls all in identical white heels and too much make up?

Typical gesture but has done nothing useful in his time on the board. He�s stood there�s while the ECB have continued a downward trend in the game. He�s yet another one to blame and is trying to save face.

This is a difficult one - personally, I think it is a poor decision to have an ECB chairman given the level of power that the role currently is drawn from the counties - whether that be Graves, Bransgrove or whomever. With that said, Graves has actually done a halfway reasonable job of not displaying overt bias in the role - he seperated himself from the running of Yorkshire, and stopped putting money in to the club for the duration of his tenure. Thats more integrity than has been displayed by the Idiot von Strauss, for example...

...but this is still a bad, or at least badly explained, decision.

Well he said nowt publicly, I think this is the extra straw.
There must be some fireworks at the ECB meetings.

You could argue that the Durham issue was of much greater magnitude than this - even though it's still pretty weak from the ECB - and a non-partisan voice would have had more of an impact then.

I'd say this is bigger. The Durham issue - whteher you agree or not with what was done - was essentially a response to one county overreaching. This potentially stitches 14 counties up (15 if you accept the argument that Middlesex derive no benefit from Lords internationals), to a greater or lesser extent.

As much as Clarke is a target for opprobium in these parts, I am not convinced you can entirely blame him. The decision to require Durham to build a test match ground as part of the conditions for their entry ot the First Class game was taken years before, and he did not force them to overpay players in pursuit of success (look at how their problems were first indicated by the breaches of the salary cap and how they came about).
