Ayrtek Duffle
« on: March 14, 2018, 11:58:29 AM »

I received the Ayrtek Duffle a little while ago and have been too lazy to move my kit over and post some pics. With yesterday being a stormy day I came back home early and decided to get to it!! Tom as usual was great to deal with, duffle arrived very quickly after I had ordered it.

Now some thoughts and features.
Build Quality: Seems very good, initially i felt the zippers could have been a bit more of tough type but when compared to my Kooka these are just as good if not better.

Standability: Bag Stands well with bats in it and without bats.

Features:
- Separate bat pockets at the back ( I love this) which is big enough that you can put your bats in covers and they would still slide in easily. If there wasn't a divider for 2 bats you could slide in 3 but I am glad that its roomy for 2 bats. Base of the bag is some sort of rugged material with feet but the base of the bat tunnel is the same as a regular material on the rest of your bag, i think if this could be rubberized it would be good for the next gen bag.

- Phone and Wallet pocket on the inside with velcro to close them, I have the zippered one on my kooka but to be honest it was useless as bat handle never allowed you to use them. I like this design better and location on them allows you to get to your items easily.

-Boot tunnel, haven't tired putting my boots in it yet

-Solid base with feet so I am not worried about moisture getting in.

Space/size: Bag is fairly big, I have seriously cut down on my kit so fitting it in was never an issue. I think if you are a keeper you could fit in another pair of pads and gloves with no issue at all. I just don't know if 2 helmets would fit in.

Look and Feel: The bag is more on the thin and tall type shape rather than short and round, which I like. I compared my 2 duffles with the same kit and Ayrtek takes less space, I love the look of the bag, colour scheme is fantastic as always. Materials used are of good quality.

Issue with the bag: Even though the side pockets are huge/deep, i find the zippered opening is a little too small to put my pads in through. If you force it the pads would go down but I suspect over time you would either damage your pads or the bag/zipper/stitching. This to me is a small oversight, I can easily put my pads in the main compartment and leave the side pockets empty, which if you are a keeper can be used for your keeping pads. This also means that when you put your boots in you have move things around a bit.

My rating of the bag: I would give it 8.5 out of 10, only thing I didn't like was size of the zipper on the side pockets.

Some pics :)

I have one of these and I think it's great. I didn't think of putting pads in the side pockets, they went straight in the central compartment and the side pockets have clothes in them. It does swallow up a lot of stuff and the back bit is nicely padded.

It's a good shape and stands up well too, so all in all, recommended.

Thanks for the feedback @tushar sehgal will take it on board for v2.0. I’ve only used mine fornets so far so not had it fully laden with whites etc but as you say there is plenty of space.

Space is definitely not an issue. I like the bag a lot considering I have had only duffles for my kit in last few years this is right up there.

Is there a separate compartment for the helmet?

The helmet is kept in the main compartment as it’s hard to segregate a Duffle bag otherwise to accommodate areas long enough for the pads. By having the bats in a separate pocket/area the main pocket is big enough to swallow up pads, helmet, thigh pads etc whilst keeping boots (spikes in particular!) away from expensive willow or equipment like pads and gloves PU that may become damaged by them.

The Duffles are £69.99 inc U.K. delivery for reference or if outside of the EU VAT is deduced but international delivery needs adding back on

Like a climber (or cheapskate) I used to use a carabiner to attach my lid to my duffle's straps - just getting back into this after a few years out, so not sure what my set up will be this time round.  Whilst that was a little unusual, it did save a fair old bit of space inside.

Im sure @StrettonFox Sports Dr Foxy with his Hedkayse helmet on will cast more light on this but having a product thats designed for safety flap abound and take multiple knocks against door frames, car boots etc prob isnt the best way to transport the product.
