I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.

Tbh I struggle taking pics side on, don’t know why, I just don’t like em

It’s just my usual profile, I’ve offset the edges slightly on this,(I could give you loads of technical bs about why etc, but tbh I just like the look)

Fair enough mate, just find the side on shot interesting to see where the middle/swell is really, as difficult to tell sometimes.

Looks a lovely bat anyway.

I thought it was just me!  For some reason the pictures I take never seemed to reflect the side on profile I see with my eyes.

Super work as always :)  I would LOVE to see a video of your batmaking process.  Any chance of that ever happening?

Hmmm , I am actually a very shy retiring type, but yeah it could be a possibility.
Bear in mind I’m a complete technophobe and it took me about 3yrs of being on here before I figured out how to post pics ha.

To be honest, what I do is nothing different to the way bats have been made for generations apart from the shaping side is done using my shave horse and sat down.
I use a drawknife/travisher and sometimes an electric planer if the willows full of knots
So nothing different there

As for finishing, again tbh that’s just time, and lots of it
The bat I’ve just posted pics of, Will no doubt be re sanded and polished again until I’m happy with the results

But yeah , if you have an easy suggestion for uploading a clip, I’d be happy too film one

:) Great to hear!

I'm sure you use all the traditional methods that everyone else does, but I really enjoy the bat making/repair videos other people have done, and would love to see your take on it.
For example, using an electric planer.  I've never seen one used in any other video's I've watched, but that's a great idea!

Unfortunately I'm green when it comes to video making and editing as well, but I'm sure somebody here would be able to help out.
Youtube is free and pretty easy to upload videos.  From memory you need to be registered, and the process isn't that different to uploading photos to a host.

Thanks for entertaining the idea anyway.  Anyone else keen to see a Video?
