Last over thriller for us today
Batting first we made 207 all out.
One of our openers made 43 but suffered a knee injury so was unable to field (it looked like he had a 2nd knee cap!)
We had a 17 year old batting at no.5 who made a very good 62, and an 18 year old at no.6 who fell agonisingly short of his maiden 2nd XI 50, getting c&b for 44.
Other than 36 extras nobody else made double figures, and the general feeling at tea was not batting for our full 45 overs may have hurt us as we were about 20-30 runs short.
In the 2nd innings their openers got off to a flyer, putting on 44 in 8 overs before the first wicket fell.
Our bowlers pegged it back and took regular wickets, with the opposition always keeping round about the required rate. It came down to them needing 9 off the last over with 1 wicket in hand, with our opening bowler on. Dot (9 off 5, we've got this!), 4 (5 off 4, squeaky bum time), wicket - bowled him.
We won by 4 runs.
Great game to be a part of, but not good for the blood pressure. I felt for the opposition coming so close, winning those kind of games is great, but losing them is heartbreaking.
Oh, and I picked up a 4 fer en route to victory, great day all round.
Over to my friendly captaincy tomorrow for a nice away trip and a timed game
