Having scored 140 runs across the two previous seasons i now find myself averaging 97 after scores of 35, 31* and 31*. Not sure what to put it down too, i finally changed my contact lens prescription over the winter - amazing how easier batting is when you can actually see the ball! Also i think the general standard is dropping, some of the teams we've faced this season have been really poor, ive played 4 games now (one i wasnt required to bat in) and we;ve played against two teams of 10 and another of 9 (who fielded for 35 overs with 8).

Either way im enjoying cricket again which is the main thing :)

Played our first T20 of the the season tonight and after losing on the last ball on sat we won on the last ball this evening. Also my debut as T20 skipper.

Bowled first and they hit 140-9 off there 20 with one lad hitting a 50 and there 1st team skipper who has multiple East Anglia Prem tons smoking a rapid 35no at no 10. Reverted to a bowler as I normally do for T20 and picked up 2 for 15 off 3 overs with my medium pace.

In reply we were 30-1 off 3 thanks to 18 wides and got off to a great start getting to 100-2 off 13 when they brought on the 1st team bowlers and we are a Div 6 side although working our way up we really held our own needing 1 from last ball No 6 smoked a stunning cover drive for 4.

Hopefully a good run will see us make finals day which will be a great achievement for a small club like ours.

Playing on Saturday it's at home should get close to 11 players on the pitch after playing away  and managing to bat all our overs with 7 players last Sat.

Belated congrats to @DorsetDan and @Seniorplayer for recent efforts. Cricket can be hard, but it's worth it in the end!

I managed to blatantly avoid a jug on Sunday, given out lbw for 49, from a tidy opening stand of 104. Adding injury to insult, the ball hit my toes on the full at a decent pace, so I hobbled off to well deserved jeers and laughter from all sides.

Just been told by our chairman I have the top average in the whole of Suffolk Two Counties Cricket after 5 innings.
334 runs, 3 not outs, 4 x 50’s and 1 x 100 score
Hope this purple patch lasts

Congrats bud, awesome start! Hope it continues. Good to see Dom Palmer doing so well over at Lakenheath also. He's battered us a couple times on Sundays, decent player.

Cheers gents, and yes has been a very good start for me and the club in general this season.

@JK Lewis I don’t know any of the names on there but our chairman said he is a very good bat as is Josh wells but can’t say I know the names or teams. Will have to arrange to pop and see you at some point as well for a stick and a chat

Josh wells is a decent player, could be playing premier league comfortably!
Play against him in a couple of weeks time!

Batted first and got 88 all out. Knocked off pretty easily by the oppo. I opened last week and dropped to 7 this week, got 0 after chipping a slower ball to gully. Still the teas were good!

Another loss today in Middlesex as we posted 183 from 50 overs, they knocked them off in 30 only two down. A short boundary and lightning outfield meant we actually needed 283, not 183

On the plus side 72 from myself which I my highest league score for about 5 years.

Assisted by a light salix picked up on the bay, shout to seniorplayer for spotting that one!

They had a youth county medium pacer who was fairly quick so the light bat helped get in the right position.

Where's that debate about light bats v heavy bats again  :)

Out in the third over for a brisk 14. One handed catch from mid off. Getting really fed up.

Team won easily chasing down 137 after we had bowled the oppo out.
