Completed the double over top of the league today. Bowled them for 80-ish before knocking them off in 30 overs as they were very good with the ball. Made 9 off 45 at number 3, which set the platform for our middle order to finish the job, and most importantly saw off their opening bowler who is top wicket taker and run scorer in the league. Also took a blinding catch at gully which would have taken my teeth out (was standing too closer and the ball got cut really hard at me) It was the best fielding performance all year as everything stuck and nobody miss fielded

This was the team who i made a social media comment about and was banned for 2 weeks earlier in the season. Nothing has changed with them, as once again they crowed our umpires, shouted for everything (like an LBW from deep cover when it hit a mile outside leg on our bats thigh pad) Worst of all was when i left one and the guy at fine leg told me i hit it (was about 2 foot away from the ball, and the fine leg was about 60 yards away!) I know there's a language barrier between us as only a couple can speak fluent English and it's difficult to communicate your decision, but something needs to be done as they will probably intimidate less stern people into giving decisions throughout the year. They then tore into our captain for giving a wide that i wouldn't have reached with a bloody barn door in my hands as it pitched right on the edge of their astro. Despite winning it's annoying that nothing will ever be done about it, yet i got a ban last time for questioning their behaviour.

We won the toss and decided to bowl first and they got to 208 for 9 off their 40, frustrating as they were 133-6. Our innings got off to a shaky stay wit their opening bowler starting with a Beamer at our opener, the next ball bowled him and another Beamer at our number 3 before being taken off. We struggled with the rate and were never really in it making 130-4 off our 40. I made 40 no but everything I hit was going straight to a fielder or I was missing it completely it was just a shame that they couldn’t bowl straight enough to get me out.

Won a league game for the first time since June, albeit a second team game.
Bowled first, came on first change after a strong opening spell from one of our England girls, ended with figures of 9/2/15/1, two overs the only runs were wides, three catches dropped off me (2 at slip, the other mid off). Bowled probably my best over for years just before drinks, first ball pitched outside leg and bat played and missed as it ragged past him, every ball did much the same. Wicket was later, their skipper left a top spinner on off stump and got it knocked over. Took a catch off the last ball of the England girls final over, went further up than it did towards the cow boundary as I started in the circle and took five steps back, and got a run out as well. Now top of the fielding stats on my own.

Batting was a disappointment, mid on was up so went aerial to get off the mark, mishit it and got caught at cow whilst aiming dead straight. Another duck. We went from 124/3 to 124/7, with me the second to fall on that. Ended up sneaking home by two wickets in the last over chasing 154.

Bagged my second ever 5 wicket haul yesterday but we were all out for 87.

Played against a team with the majority being very excitable players who do not know the LBW rule, which really detracts from the enjoyment of the game!!

Won convincingly yesterday, we batted first and scored 340-6 off 50 overs.
We then bowled them out fir 160, I picked up for 3-40 off 8. Having not bowled much in the first half of the season, its nice now to be getting the arm over and picking up wickets.
I personally wanted 20 wickets in my first full season in Division 1 cricket, so I need 7 from the final 4 games. and we need 29 points from the final 4 games to secure us winning the league.

Another good win yesterday and the winning streak continues..shame we didn’t win a few earlier..it could have been a race to promotion instead of avoiding relegation. Got my 3rd 4-fer of the season (9-2-20-4)..Still no 5-fer :(...

Thanks to the mess of our games being off this weekend we've now secured promotion. With 2 games remaining we're undefeated with a 28 point lead over 2nd place, whilst the league is almost in the bag the prospect of an undefeated season still leaves lots to play for.

We’re hoping to get promotion as rumours of 3 going up being talked about. We were in 2nd spot playing top last week in a winners takes top spot showdown when the rain came. We were 108-4 off of 31 with our hitters to come in when we came off. We didn’t get back out so you can imagine they were mad keen to get us out Boeing so they could chase down 69 off of 20 overs to take the 20 points for the win.

3rd place somehow managed to get their game finished so leapfrogged is as we ended up splitting point with top spot. This pushed us back down into 3rd spot with us playing 4th place this week. We bowled well and restricted them to 155 all out picking up the max 5 bowling points in the process. A nice leaisruely afternoon was on the cards as I ate a shed load of tea and as we had 2 umpires and a scorer looked forward to a stroll around the boundary as we chased them down.....50/7 and I was strapping my pads on.

Having not been required to bat for 3 weeks we managed to put together an 8th wicket stand of 109 to see us home. They weren’t overly thrilled as you can imagine but hopefully it has kept us in the hunt as we’re struggling to hold onto our promising youth players as they are being told by the county squads they should be playing WEPL cricket. All we can do is keep pushing for promotion back into B&D senior after suffering a double relegation when thy made the league into a linear structure. 2 games to go against the lower league sides which we can hopefully bag 2 wins and see how the teams above us fare.

This afternoon I organised a friendly which saw my Sunday team take on my Saturday team. I was selected for the Saturday team (who fielded first) and we really mixed it up to give everyone a bowl. Given I was one of the few who played yesterday, I decided to have just 4 overs with and was quite happy with my return of 3 wickets for 6 runs. However, a late order rally by the tail saw them push their total to 192-9 off 40 overs. Our innings started with a run out then barely got out of 2nd gear although a couple of 1st teamers gave it a brief injection of energy but we ended up around 30 runs short at the end of the game.  Didn't bat but that was my own choice.

Really enjoyed my cricket this weekend.

Sunday cricket in Worcestershire has been on the decline for a while your club did well to get a full fixture list
Also there's been lots of teams conceding many on a  Saturday night or Sunday morning.

Just a brief word on my beloved Chertsey CC -

1st, 2nd and 3rd XIs are all already promoted from their respective leagues. The 1st and 3rds are already champions and the 2XI should be crowned if they win on Saturday.

The 4XI struggled all season in a strong league but have now hauled themselves out of the relegation zone to the safety of mid table and live to fight another day.

Due to injury I've played twice this season - perhaps I should retire and simply become club mascot.

middx relegation battle update

won again Saturday, and I was run out for he forth time this season !

still...its been a better one than last year, 2 games left we are playing first and third teams vying for promotion

with luck we will survive after hauling ourselves off the bottom of the table and taking some right hammerings

offered to drop down to the threes for next year to play with a couple of mates but skipper declined saying you cant buy match experience and some grit in tough situation

@FattusCattus  please take note. experience counts.
