Should Vaughn Be Dropped?
« on: August 03, 2008, 09:39:41 AM »

Should Michael Vaughn be dropped from the england team? I think he definatly should Vaughan has scored just 40 runs in five innings and thats just not good enough.

"I have no doubts about my captaincy ability," he said. "Absolutely none. But I am not scoring runs.

"As a number three batsmen I have got to score runs and in this series what have I got?"

Get rid of vaughn send him back to Yorkshire for a few weeks, let him get back into form then bring him back in. Simple.
IMO strauss should be stand in captain

It's a shame to see him leave the job like this but i think it was time for him to go. Hopefully now he will be able to score the runs that he was before he was captain.

Now he's not captain he should be dropped until he starts to score some runs in County Cricket. I'd like to see him replaced by Shah or Key.

key has been given his opportunities to bat at that level and hasn't shown anyone what he can do at county level, bring in a young batsman with talent and see how he goes, maybe hildreth at somerset shld be given a run out..two gd seasons and a decent start this yr shld warrant mre than a place in the lions squad.

one and nine...yeh tons, fair enough he made 83 in the test before that but a young player like hildreth hasnt been given the chance to score 83 yet, maybe he would get more...an average of 31 after 15 test matches isnt good enough to warrant a place in the test side.

I'm begining to see a bit of Somerset bias coming into your way of thinking Cyprus. Key has one of the best county records at the moment so should be given another chance, after Shah, Bopara and posibly Denly.

I think he should still be in there. He is a class act. Though Shah should atleast be in the squad and not ignored the way he has been.

Ramps is too old, he would only be short term not long term and not a player for the future

Ramps was given the opportunity of being on standby for the tour of New Zealand but he turned it down. I personally wouldn't pick Ramps ever again as 1 he wouldn't be in the side for that long because of his age and 2 he cracks when the pressure's on.

Maybe short term would be good, i know we are building for the Ashes but who's to say he couldn't play in the ashes next year, if hes making centuries now, he could still be making them next year
