The Before/After Refurb thread.
« on: April 12, 2018, 07:43:20 AM »

I know there a few others on here that like before and after refurb pics nearly as much as I do, so here's one of my tougher projects.

Before

After

Forgot to get a proper picture of it but managed to fill in the chip with woodfiller and it came up pretty well after a sand.

Great job that, looks almost new!

Although, seriously, buy some socks.

Haha, it's a CBF bat pic trademark. If the photo doesn't have a foot in it then the bats a fake.

See this hasn't exactly taken off yet!

Monster refurb number 2, an old GM Maxi picked up for a song on eBay, think there's a nice bat lurking under 10 years of grime and breaks.

Yeah, other than that missing chunk from the back there wasn’t much damage, just oil and grime. The second one had a few more cracks, nothing major but doesn’t come out looking as good.

The GM has been through the wars, good job on the refurb.

The bat stickered up as a chase looks like a different bat once you’ve finished with it.

I forgot to take a before shot, sorry. This is an Aldred butterfly I picked up. It had a piece missing from the right handers outside edge and a few other cracks. I glued the cracks down and cut in a new piece to repair the missing edge.
Like my other Aldred supreme it is extremely responsive but weighs only 2lb 9.7oz.
The bad news iss that the sticker on the back is missing. This fur her proves to me the quality of an Aldred butterfly, particlay in the Supreme profile.

Make me feel bad about my efforts at a refurb.  Must do better and put some more effort in to get your results. Top work

The key is to find a bat that over oiled and grubby but is no real damage.

The mates beautiful GM Icon LE this time. Not really been looked after and the outside edge was mostly stuck to the antiscuff, and it was so badly delaminated you could pull a piece of thread in one edge and out the other. Forgot to take a proper before shot, but basically all there was to see was stickers and a heavily marked antiscuff sheet. Not my neatest repair but the delamination is glued up and it has a bit more life in it than before.

Apologies for all the sideways photos, forgot to rotate them on my phone.

This one came up pretty well, inside toe has taken a hammering and some face cracks needed gluing up.

Some better replacement stickers for the Maxi, now she’s a beauty again.

Also been working on this.

Putting CA stickers on is worse than removing a finer anti scuff!

The CA refurb looks great - almost new. I don't think I'd have the patience to do all the stickers though!

It’s not that there’s a lot, they’re just so big, which combined with a lot of concaving makes for hard work.
