@LukeFramBurton - how old is the Catalyst? when was this model around?

I have one of Alex Gidmans sponsored bats. GM said it was a Catalyst shape from 2009.

I'm sure these take a lot of time but seeing the pictures makes me very tempted to try a reno on an ebay dog. Very satisfying seeing an old bat revived.

Actually they don't take that long to do. Most of the time is waiting for the glue to set (more exciting than `waiting for paint to dry' as you are never quite sure how well it will turn out. But nearly always the end result is far better than you might have expected from the starting condition). The actual sanding and glueing don't take long - a few mins really, but careful clamping is important (when I don't clamp carefully I have occaionally made marks on the timber from the vice jaws or the clamp). Takes longer I guess if you get involved with drilling dowells in to mend large breakages, or replacing handles, but I don't get involved in that...

I’n At best moderately handy, but returning and repairing bats is one of the more therapeutic things i’ve Ever found to do. The level of satisfaction after words is tremendous.

I’m not actually sure - so @Kulli will be much more on the money than me.

A simple refurb can be done in 15/20 minutes - maybe even less - if you’ve got everything to hand. This one challenged me a bit as I didn’t want to remove the stickers - masking them all off before sanding was probably the most time consuming part. One that I finished last week, that needed a couple of goes at filling did feel quite time consuming though.

Catalyst and Purist were at the same time, around 12 years ago and I think SA captain Smith used to play with Purist

So I guess you should be keeping the one that goes like plane(aeroplane).
I've used Symomd Tuscone bat and yes that was very impressive bat.

Not sure how well this shows up in the photos, but I was amazed how well a crushed /dented toe can be fixed with a steam iron and cloth. This is my old NB 1260 copy and the toe was crushed by a badly mis executed pull shot that actually struck the back of the bat. The top 4 photos are of the damage, the bottom are after repair... Took about 5 mins with the iron.

Just did a refurb on a teammate's near 10 year old MB laminate. Removed the old stickers and edge tape, used thinner to get the gunk of. Superglued some edge cracks, hand sanded the entire thing using 80 grit, then used an electric sander with 80 grit. Finished off with 300 grit on the sander. Applied a light coat of linseed oil to the entire thing and let it rest for 2 days, finished off with some batwax and new stickers and grip (that he provided) and scuffed it up. Think it came off pretty well and my friend is losing his mind cause its his favorite bat.

Another one done on a teammates old 90s traditional puma. This one was a much easier job. Just removed the old scuff and edge tape, sanded down using 100 grit first and finished with 320 grit for a smooth finish. Oiled and rested for a day. New stickers and grip, batwax and new scuff sheet and edge tape. Owner was really happy with this and so was i.

I like fake looking stickers, you don't want to be known as the bloke who restickers bat's into fakes. I like to think of it more like a tribute band; similar but discernibly different

Another cleanup and refurb on a teammate's UK made Hawk. I really liked this bat. Felt very very similar to my BB. Who is the batmaker for this brand? Does Anyone know?
