Gripping, isn't it? Props to Surrey, who are fighting incredibly hard in a dead rubber. You'd worry for Essex though - losing this would be almost as gut wrenching as losing to Yorkshire after rolling them for 50 earlier in the season.

Why isn't the BBC live text updating? :(

This is a real edge of the seat game.

Championship cricket is boring, right?
They shouldn't be playing Championship cricket in late September, right?

Awful behaviour from Dernbach. Deserves a ban for that.

For those of us not watching, what did he do?

For those of us not watching, what did he do?

Ran in to and shoved Matt Quinn when Essex stole a short single. The slow motion was damning - he was nowhere near the ball and throwing a tantrum. Shame as it detracted from a wonderful game.

Appalling behaviour from Dernbach and credit to Quinn for keeping his head and staying calm in the situation.  I hope Dernbach gets a suitable ban as that sort of think has no place in a cricket field at any level

Great game.

Awesome work from Quinn at the end, as well as ten Doeschate, who I always just expect to get the job done. He's just one of those blokes.

Dernbach. I mean, what can you say that hasn't already said. Clearly just straight shoulder barged him. He's always been a prize plum (I want to use a much stronger word, but it's a family forum  :) ) but this is just 100 times worse than his screaming celebrations, arrogance and general demeanour.

Proves why no-one who is a neutral likes Surrey. Gareth Batty would be proud.

Why isn't BBC dedicating a whole channel to it for the duration of the summer?

Return on Investment... quite simply sky will be losing hand over fist putting this game on TV.
It’s a shame as people will watch cricket if it’s on FTA.

Sky did an excellent job of covering this game, and dedicate a huge amount of broadcasting time to showing live cricket - international and domestic, men and women - and the money they pay to the ECB has had a big impact in improving facilities and training new coaches at grass roots level.  The problem is that kids don't associate with cricket if they don't see it on TV and participation has declined significantly in the last decade.  Pretty much the only good thing I can say about the 100 is that it will include FTA games

Given by Graves' actions today in the chairman's board meeting it is becoming unlikely the hundred will happen.

Also Graves was so concerned about how he would be received by his adoring Surrey fans that he delegated handing out the trophy.

Either he owns up and faces up to his actions or he walks.

Got any sources/any more info on that?
