Woodworm, yes or no?
« on: April 18, 2018, 12:16:40 PM »

Hi All,

Having seen the prices (definitely look too good to be true for bats such as the IB 235 (£30) and Glow Worm Fizz (£45)) I was wondering if anyone has used one recently?
I saw that WalkingWicket has bought one, but no indication of its actual performance.

As a bowler who doesn't tend to bat all that often, and certainly not one who can justify paying over the odds for a bat as seems the norm, I am tempted to go with one of these.

I was planning on heading to their store in Redditch tomorrow (19/04/18) to have a look around. Would be happy to do a little review of the store if anyone is interested too.

Review away... My lad when he was a junior had Woodworm pads, great value and decent protection. And he's just been given some gloves (along with a PUMA pair, not that he needed any...), but seem very good to be honest.

@moonball I had a torch back when I was about 13 (13 years ago) and loved it.
Will do a review over the weekend following my visit and let you guys know how it was!

How far are you from them? Just so you know, they don't open on Saturdays, I found this out...

I noted that from their website. Rather annoying for most people working, just lucky I have a day off tomorrow.

I'm in Worcester, but heading that way tomorrow so thought I'd pop in and have a look.

Doesn't surprise me! To be honest I doubt I'd notice given the lack of batting I actually do.

We use their cricket balls for Sunday friendlies and they are good value. Bats ok, nothing special from the ones I've picked up when I've visited. If you not using it much and want a cheap bat then yes they are fine. One of my mates has one as his match bat for this year and it seems to go fairly well in the nets. If you've not been before, you turn into the fishing place and drive quite a long way down a track before you get to a farm with industrial units on your right. They are round the back.

Ok, I mentioned a review following my visit.

Not much to review unfortunately, as I managed to pick a day that they were moving to a new site.
Very much a work in progress, with very little in their new site on show due to the moving process being ongoing.

I did buy an IB 235 for £30, which seems ok (can't complain when paying that little), but will give a further opinion on it once I have had a chance to use it.
