Wow, what a last 6-12 months for this guy! didn't even keep for his club, then recalled to national team, now captain!!

Good thing oz have a fair gap between now and their next fixtures or it may have been back to old times for Paine ....seeing as he fractured a finger in the last test of the series.

I read he was lined up for a management position at Kookaburra after the aussie season finished and he finished it skippering the national team. Interesting how long his "no sledging" approach lasts in aussie cricket. He says in touch with Smith alot and given the little cricket the aussies play this year im pretty sure he's keeping things warm for Smith to return to

Smith can't captain Australia until march 2020 so Paine's in the job for the long run
