Club wanted in London
« on: May 12, 2018, 04:27:28 PM »

Hi Lads,

Moved down to London from Edinburgh at the start of the year for work. I'm currently living in East London but I might move over to West London in a few weeks but I'm still unsure.

Any help would be appreciated.

Would recommend a TVL league if you’re close

Shepherd's Bush are a big club and play Middlesex county league, this is better than a club that plays Middlesex championship(my club plays in this)

Quite a few clubs have ex pro's turning out in the County league so if you are any good you should test yourself in the better league.

And if your an average player most of the sides in that league have at least 3 sides, sometimes 4 or 5 so you will find your level.

Played against Shepherd's Bush on Saturday (well we tried) over at King's House Sports Ground. Seemed like a good bunch of guys and a pretty good standard.

You could also try Chiswick, Acton & Ealing all of which are in the Middlesex Leagues and have at least 4 teams.

If you’re coming over to West London you have a plethora of choices, so it depends what you’re looking for from a club and also how far you want to travel.

I play for Putney CC www.putneycricketclub.com we’re a very social club who provide a wide range of opportunities to play cricket both on the weekends and midweek. We play in the Surrey County league which is a lower standard than the Surrey Championship but still very competitive.

My Club, Brentham CC we have County league, championship league and 1987 (4's league) sides, nice bunch and there's a choice of levels depending on how good you are. plus Sunday chess valley league and friendlies. We are in North Ealing by Hanger Lane, Any of the other sides mentioned are good sides as well.

I have chosen a place in Statford and i'm moving over there next week so would ideally be looking to play somewhere as close as possible.

You're probably looking North London then mate. the clubs i know in East London play either in the Essex league (which means a trip to the countryside every other weekend) or play a relatively low standard (Walthamstow CC as an example of the former, and London Fields CC as one of the latter). You could try Tower Hamlets CC but I don't know them that well. I think they play division 1 Middlesex Championship.

North London has a fair few clubs (I play for Alexandra Park CC. Takes me 30 mins on public transport from Walthamstow). There's also North London CC, Crouch End CC, Highgate CC, North Middlesex CC, Southgate CC & Edmonton CC, all of whom have teams playing at a respectable standard. There are probably more but that's all i can think if for now.
