new RS...TRIBUTE
« on: May 18, 2018, 02:22:23 PM »

My current favourite bat was showing some signs of tear and for a guy who prefers 1400 grams bat, finding a new stick is a task as there are literally no off the shelf options. The only options we are left are custom bats and not many batmakers offer custom in india. After reading a lot about RS bats on this forum, i contacted Mr Jolly and  after looking at some of his bats on FB.They had quite a few pics of bats in sachin profile( my favourite profile). Discussed rates, which were very reasonable for top of the grade willow.
This was monday and today i got my new bat. Picked it up and it felt wow in hands, great balance for a 1400 grams low middle bat.

WIll let pictures do the talking.

finishing is great, can compare it with the likes of SS and SG. Overall , i would say a bargain.

Mr Jolly is a very good bloke, and Robinsons make really nice bats. Good luck with it!

What a bat.

No idea how you lift something like that!

That's about what? 3 lbs and 1 oz?

I mean, you better get that size of a bat in this weight category.

Timber looks lush though.

You'd be surprised! You won't always get a big full bat just because it's heavy.

Ask @smilley792 about trying to source a big bat in a heavy weight. A lot of manufacturers will use a dense cleft that was lying around as they couldn't make a light bat with it. You'll often find heavier bats with rather severe concaving in still

Yes that's pretty much possible but imagine the flip side of the coin.

The willow used to make Warmer's 50 mm edge resulted in bats at 2.12
If the same willow is used to whittle bats like the one in OP, they will be monsters at 3 lbs and 1 oz

I agree. Some indian brands should learn branding from english brands. Simple and classy.

I agree on the tribute stickers, its alrite. But at the end of the day, performance of willow is more important. Do tell me the specs of the bat apart from the weight  :)
