GM Player Edition - James Vince
« on: May 31, 2018, 09:15:18 PM »

Hello folks. Me and a friend of mine decided to get GM player edition bats, mostly because I had gotten one earlier and rate it very highly. Detailed review here: http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=43282.0

We both pondered which shape to get and finally settled on the James Vince as we both were looking for a lower middle. The bats were sourced through Asad @Uzi Sports

Weight: 2.9.5
Handle: medium thickness, very slightly semioval at the bottom.
Specs: 40mm edges, 67mm spine, 2mm concaving.

Pressing: so here’s the interesting bit, the pressing on this bat is quite different to the QDK bat I got last year. While the QDK sounded firm/crisp this one seems much softer when bouncing the ball. I don’t know if GM have changed the way they press their bats compared to last year or it’s because we requested these to be the exact replica of Vince bats in terms of pressing as well as the weight. I’ll do a follow up on the performance when I try it in the nets and matches.

Looks amazing! Do share a performance review. Curious to know how it responds to pulls and cuts

Will do mate. Pings all over so shouldn’t be an issue. Shape is like the SS bats but much thicker shoulders and more wood in the top half of the bat in general

Impressive bat, from feel to pick up to pressing. It’s a top quality bat,  shout out to Asad @Uzi Sports

Hey Ajdal .

Recently been looking into GM . The research suggests Great bats and I'm glad you posted this review up .

From some research on the website my preference was the GM Chrome's . I believe you may have one in the past ?

The website suggests they have a lot to mid sweet spot which is large and thick handles . Any input from your side .?

Was looking at 909 max at this point and maybe 808 or do you recommend going higher . I have read how the bats perform great and j think your reviews suggest the same in the post you linked .

Is Asad the man to go to ?

I think the Vince profile is very similar to the Chrome. Low middle and nice thick handle on the chrome LE. 909 description from GM seem to suggest they have their best quality handles so I’d suggest you go for a 909 instead of an 808. My teammate has a 909 Mana and it’s a belter. Asad is very pleasant to deal with and so is @Six Sixes Cricket but they aren’t vat registered yet.

Thank you Ajdal .

Will give them a bell tomorrow think Uzi is closer but don't think they have any more 909 s in stock ....

I was trying to understand the limitation of them not being vat registered to the customer ?

Reading you're review again you are a fan of the new way GM are pressing the bats .

Your reviews were really helpful

GM do thick handles and I always prefer that and I also am a believer the bat has an affinity to last longer

UziSports are vat registered @Six Sixes Cricket aren’t sorry if I confused you. But it Doesn’t matter since you’re in the UK.

Regarding the press, even though the QDK from last year sounded crisp and still does, the response is absolutely second to none. I believe you can’t tell about the performance of a bat by bouncing a ball on it. It’s just a preference with people I suppose if they like the softer feel in their bat. As long as the ball flies I really don’t care personally.

Thank you Asad, as they flew out and sold relatively quickly will you not be bringing a bunch of new ones in ? so can pick from a bunch rather than have one made solely.

@Novak You can also consider the Zelos, low to mid swell position, hugely popular
