I have to test it out. I haven't used a lighter blade in a long time. We have a match coming up on a raging-turner of a pitch and I will use my size-6-3 bat (@2-8). Other option is to use the XP-80 2000 which at 2-10 is a whippy bat.

Clearly force = mass x acceleration, so there is an optimal weight for everyone, it is about finding it.
Heavier for drives and swing weight, lighter for pulls and cuts.

For me there is also the consideration of perhaps getting into a better position in the first place with a lighter bat. When I face quicker bowlers or swinging balls I sometimes find myself unable to adjust quickly enough. Possibly psychosomatic but worth a try I think.

^ You can also get in position very quickly with a heavier bat which is what I do. I use a 2-11.7 bat.

@blindowl  red ink cricket is an excellent option! All made by hand-held he made me a lovely 1 inch shorter blade beast weighing 2'8.5 that was very reasonably priced- he does a custom shape in a variety of grades and price points,plus he is a forum sponsor.Can show you photos of that bat he made me if you like...

I have a shorter blade red ink and it is excellent and great value for money.
Another option is a h4l warbird. I also have one of these. It is more expensive but also an excellent t bat.
You could also consider a mongoose cor3 if you can find one.

Okay...

i have a standard SH CA dragon series and it is almost the exact length and width as the BB B4 i just got. the blade is exactly the same size and the handle is about half a cm shorter. width wise it is exactly the same. i guess if your height is over 6'2" u could struggle with a CA. otherwise its all good (if you can live with the fragile nature of it)

I think it's not so much about getting in a better position if you late on the shot and failing to  make contact with the quicker ball it' could be that the bat is to heavy

I think it's more about smacking the sh*t out of it if it's in your half, with a bat that feels like a club.
