You're brave to put on the batting footage

The guys were really bit pumped after they bowled you sadly .

Shame you don't have footage of bowling to them

I believe you were not playing forward to both full length deliveries ...

Where do you normally bat ...

I admit it wasn't my finest batting effort ever, was definitely leaning towards trying to hit out rather than control the ball. I've always had a batting style based on bat speed, hence high hands.

I set my stance open, and close it up when I trigger to get my feet moving as I used to keep getting caught because my feet stayed still so I was playing away from my body. Exception is if im facing left arm seam over the wicket, where I will be more open and trigger to slightly open.

Little bit of rust showing I think- I went from 5 hours training a week over the winter to none after leaving uni.

@Novak the video is unlisted, so only people who i share the link with can see it 😇 im normally 7/8 but want to move up the order at my new club.

Im based in Bucks but play in Sussex.

I'd give my batting performance about 4.5/5 out of 10 last night. Foot work wasn't great, wasn't getting forward enough.

See, I've always found trigger movements to be the issue. I used to do something similar thinking that it'd help me get my feet moving when in reality it was just sending me off balance massively.

A few of the lads play minor counties for Wiltshire, with one in particular being an exceptional bat. The best advice I've ever been given was when he told me to just stay totally still whilst the bowler runs in - I'd swear by it now. Give it a shot and see how you get on, from what I can see on your video your trigger movement is leaving you in a different position almost every shot so you're putting yourself on the back foot from the get go.

Had a long hit vs CSG keeper (with sidearm) and his lad earlier. Doing a bit of coaching whilst batting. Tried staying still until id picked the line and length. Found myself staying tall but then bending my legs a bit more as the ball was being released so I could spring. Was hitting the ball with more power than yesterday, more control than yesterday. I filmed it from side on this time, partly because of safeguarding, and because I did a bit of coaching as we went I will edit the chatting out of the video.

The only change I made was, because the youngster was bowling left arm over, was batting on middle and off rather than middle and leg to him, middle and leg to the sidearm. Felt good to be honest, and well balanced.

What was the thinking behind moving more across your stumps to the left arm over??

Unless your ridiculous good off your legs, it just seems your adding a bigger chance of lbw in.

I’m an extremely attacking batsman, so tend to try get my legs out of way. But I move from leg to right arm overs, to half a stump outside leg and open my stance to left arm over, as v to point is where I score and am poornoff my legs.

I've been doing that to left arm seam for a couple of years. My strength is hitting between mid wicket and extra cover, so by being further across I am more easily in position to punch the ball straight or to go through extra cover without playing so far from my body. Also means that I am in position to just open up a touch more to cut and pull.

I am strong off my legs, but my logic is that I am taking bowled out of the equation as a dismissal and will have more control playing through the covers as I am playing closer to my body.

I agree @mohawks94 , lbw isn't a big dismissal facing left arm over unless they swing it in a lot as it's usually pitching outside leg, so if strong off your pads (also my preferred shot) then moving over can make a lot of sense 👍

I've used the old trick of smashing the space bar whilst watching tonights hit back. I am playing the ball under my eyes a lot better, committing forward more and getting the bat down straighter. Main PC with editing software decided to do updates, so will get a short clip up tomorrow.
