Splice colour

What is the change of colour on certain splices? Are they now painted or is it a cheaper material. This is a G3 slaz below but I’ve seen it on £400 M&H and GM’s to name a few.

It's because the cane handles are fumigated by burning sulphur  in a chamber the smoke kills any borer in the cane thie process   Also defines the cane  colour

To clarify, is the question:
"why is the cane in the splice a different colour to the willow in the blade"?

Not quite.
Normally a splice is more of a natural wood colour.
These look painted or a different material.

I believe they use a wooden veg while making the handle.

No need to worry about as the color may vary depending upon the wood used.
