So I just sold a Chase bat on ebay - it has a 2.8 sticker on the shoulder but after anti-scuff and extra grip it weighs a tad over 2.10.

I listed the bat at 2.10 as thats what it weighed when I was selling it, now after 3 weeks the buyer has messaged me saying it was 2.8 and I presume no longer wants it! My question is was I right to list it at 2.10?

Any help greatly received.

It was the weight when you sold it. If he decided to get rid of all the stickers etc then that’s their issue.

3 weeks is a ridiculous time before complaining too. Unfortunately it’s their bat now and not your responsibility.

Did you include a photo of the bat on a set of scales in the listing? I find that is proof of you honestly showling the bats actual weight

I blame Sky for this idea that every club cricketer now has where they must know how much their bat weighs, to the exact ounce.

Then again, if you are buying off ebay/ online generally,  I suppose you must need some kind of guide?

Sounds like he hasn't asked for money back, at this stage, just seeing what your reaction is.
I'd reply, confirming the weight as sold (ie with extra grip, scuff sheet, stickers as per listing photos/ description) was 2lb 10oz, on your scales.

The listing had a picture of the bat on scales showing it as 2.10, so as far as im concerned thats the weight when sold. I certainly didnt go into the store and ask for a specific weight, I just picked what felt like a hundred bats up and came away with 2!

I replied asking what they were expecting and ive had no answer - so will see how it goes.

I appreciate peoples input though.

If you have shown the picture of it on the scales and its listed at that price you have honestly listed the item imo.

Ebay may still find in the buyers favour as that seems to be their business model these days.

If he has indeed taken off the stickers, scuff sheet and extra grip and is complaining that the bat is now 2oz lighter, then the man is an idiot.
Likewise, if it has spent those 3 weeks next to a radiator or boiler and he's complaining it's now 2oz lighter, the man is an idiot.

If on the other hand it has just lost 2oz from drying out 'naturally' it would be fine to ask a question about it; for all he knows, you may have been keeping it somewhere damp and now he's taken it inside, it's dried out, and hence is now lighter.

I think you should establish what he's done with the bat (if anything) and where he's been keeping it. This may enlighten him.

You have done your due diligence as a seller, really. (Unless you had been storing it in the shed, mind!)
