Cable knit vs Modern/fleecy jumpers

Given we have a white vs cream thread I thought I would go for a jumper version.

I have to admit I prefer the modern fleecy jumpers. They are warmer, easier to wash and don't smell when damp...

But yet still people like the cable knit version!

What do you think?

I prefer a proper cable knit jumpers.

It may just be the kit supplier we use, but I've found the new style ones tend to focus more on being able to apply sponsors logos than actually keeping you warm!
The ones we have this year are more like extra thick playing shirts than jumpers  :(

Cable Knits look better in my opinion. However the modern style are much more functional.

I usually wear a cable sleeveless jumper and a modern sleeved jumper if  both are available.

At my age, and now I’m a southern softie, I wear whatever is in my bag, which includes both a modern fleece and a knit jumper too,, I’ve even been known to wear a wind stopper fleece under a jumper to try and stay warm

they do say the old feel the cold more than the young do. gloves and a bobble hat for next season

I think a lot depends on the supplier/manufacturer of the modern jumpers. Some are absolutely shocking designed and bright white, however there are some very good ones. Our clubs modern jumpers are excellent and really warm but lightweight if you need to bat in the short sleeved one etc...

I normally just wear two shirts if it’s a bit cold.

Mostly because I don’t own a jumper.......

I hate the modern style jumpers.  For over a decade our club kit has used the modern style jumper.  I buy my own cable knits and wear these instead. Gray Nics do an all white version which doesn't clash with any of our playing kit

Cable knits are great, main issue for me is the cost. They’re just so damn expensive, admittedly they should stand the test of time, but last time I enquired for my club they were pushing £50 each.

a topic close to my heart. Traditional Cable knit only.
I love the look that is unmistakeably cricket.
I think the modern sweaters look out of place - as if an occasional player has borrowed from another sport's kit. I was looking for a new club sweater, but nothing traditional is available from our supplier.
Also, the current England cable knit looks like something a granny would knit for little Johnny when he started with the under 10s. Not a good look.

I may be in the minority, but I actually like the current England cable knits - well at least when the colour matches the rest of the kit.
