Time to start your cricketing empire then Leo - from small acorns......
Just go easy with the draw-knife - easy to take off too much

Make sure you wear suitable footwear when using the draw knife too... flip flops are not, and may lead to nasty injuries as I found out!

What else did you get?

Looks a good effort , a bit of tidying up on the edges and spine of the bat, some more off the toe aswell .Try  either  the spokeshave or handplane to do the finer work .

Yeah looks good. Go careful on the toe with the drawknife as it can quickly be shaped into a cocktail stick! Are you using a round or flat bottom spokeshave?

That some toe to block out the yorkers mate....have you slipped with the drawknife and taken off some wallpaper in the process?

Look forward to the finished bat and the instinct stickers!

Haha yeah I dont know if you can see but there are some pencil lines of how I want the toe to be.

Just weighed the bat and its 2lb 11 at the mo
Toe 22mm
Edges 28mm
Shoulder 12mm
Ping... Priceless

i know it's not in line with the topic, but talking about injuries with a drawknife. I was using my old drawknife when it got caught in a knotted area on the toe, the handle came off and as i kept pulling with the other hand it slammed into my thumb, cutting down to the bone and cutting some of the tendon. Stitches were required. Needless to say i had done this to my other thumb a few months before, but not quite so bad, resulting in some corresponding scars on each thumb - that drawknife has gone!

Ha ha, my incident was more due to lack of talent combined with low intelligence, but thankfully didn't end in such a nasty wound! On the plus side I learnt my lesson, and love the draw knife, somehow very satisfying!
