It doesn't matter who they appoint, everyone will still say they're terrible and shouldn't have got the job.
It's just one of those poison jobs where you could be the best person ever at the job, but the players aren't up to it and you get killed. Strauss may well have set up player pathways in the background and in 10 years time we'll be unstoppable. His job isn't purely judged on the results of the men's senior team. He's also in charge of the Disability teams, U19's, Women's game and countless other tasks.
I for one wish him well, hope his wife's condition is improving and hope one day he will return in some capacity to the ECB.
Whoever is appointed, we'll be having this conversation again when they step down....
