Forearm Pain while batting
« on: October 08, 2018, 05:56:09 AM »

I have been noticing forearm pain while batting. When I walk in to bat, I am fine. But as I start to bat, after few balls this pain start to shoot in my forearms. Does anyone else have experience any pain of this sort? What should I do to fix it. It has affected my batting and timing.

Whereabouts in your forearm? Could be worth trying a compression Base Layer with full sleeves. They certainly help me

Are you gripping your bat handle to tight.
Is it worth trying a lighter or higher middle bat.

If its outside of the arm/wrist it may be ulnar tendon based, which is from the wrist to the elbow. I have occasional issues with tendinitis (too much frisbee) and it is a shooting pain if it moves in a particular way.

Seeing a physio/doc is the best option as previously suggested, I just know from my very limited experience.

If you at desk job it could be due to working on keyboard at office or home plus using mobile phone for texting. If its due to some medical condition using mobile, computer will worsen the situation.

The pain is more acute in nature, and you will need some guidance from a visit to GP or physio to prevent it from becoming a chronic issue. If it's related to cricket, then it could possible be a Tennis Elbow, inflammation of tendons at elbow joint. Rest, switching to a light weight bat and bit of change in technique should be good enough remedies for now......but firstly, it's tight time to see a physician

I haven’t tried it yet but it could work. I used to have compression sleeves and it sort of worked.

I tried changing my grip from Time to time to see if it makes any difference but so far, nothing.

I have tried Bats from 2.8 to 2.12 but after few minutes of batting this pain comes back and my top hand feels fatigue.

No. Plus I am regular in gym. I do weight lifting and I have never felt any sort of pain while working out.

"Shooting" pain sounds more like nerve impingement, probably from the wrist/ hand.

If it is muscle pain/ fatigue then there's only one good exercise for that [paging @FattusCattus ] :)

Not much keyboard warriors can do to help so see a physio
Yes shooting pain with fatigue to follow.

Yes this could be one of the causes for this pain. I am trying to see if there is some sort of stretching that I could do to release some of this fatigue and pain.

It could be my back lift with 2.10-2.12 bats. I will try switching to lighter bats. I recently switched to higher backlift to compensate for my lost of speed.
