1 Year Progress
« on: October 11, 2018, 11:23:50 AM »

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCH1PFaMZAw

Thought i'd share this video here as its crazy to see how far i've come in the last year!
The first 30 seconds or so of this video (when im in a white shirt) is from this time last year
The last 30 seconds in a blue shirt is yesterday

The season before that first video i was averaging 6.22, and then this year i averaged 22.5.

I've worked hard on getting myself at the ball and not being scared of it (you can see i was terrified of the ball in the first video)

I still have a lot to work on: not letting my bottom hand take over, not dragging it from outside off to legside, trying to move my feet outside off a bit more

But overall i thought it would be interesting to show what 2 hours of batting practice a week does for a year!

Good on you mate, that's an impressive improvement! Plenty of people set out to do that and not many manage it so fair play. See if you can keep the rate of improvement going and average 81.39 next year ;)

haha! My realistic aims for next year will probably be to push that average up to 30 and score at least three 50's!

What is your bat weight?

This one is a 2'7 Red Inker

Didn't really have a plan. Me and my mate just went to Cricket Asylum every week for a couple of hours! He's a seriously good player and did a good job of giving me small tips and hints but letting me work out what was best for myself

This is why I come on the forum, fantastic improvement. Keep it up 👍

Cheers mate!

Where are you based

I play in the Huntingdon league when i'm back from uni for summer

That bloke in the blue top is so much better than the geezer in the white top!  ;)
Seriously....looking at how confident you are now in comparison to how you were!! Insane!

Another progress update

Once again averaged 20-odd this year, was 30-odd at the mid season point but i have been suffering from dizziness for quite a while so it effected my performances for a while!

Have been focusing on not having such a death grip on the bat - but really need to work on my balance and not falling over to the offside

That being said, here's another video!

Looking good and would be good to know what learnings you have or things you did to make the improvements.

Also - is the thigh pad on right? Looks like the inner one is on the outer side?

Looking good. The cut shot looks very effective. For losing balance to off, your head starts in a good straight position, but then you seem to lean to off side rather than pushing your shoulder /head down towards the ball. Maybe this is why you then pull the back foot outside off stump after the stroke. However, there are others on here much better qualified to comment...
