Split fingers vs Sausage fingers

So something happened today that really surprised me. I was batting in the nets against some medium pacers and out comes a newcomer lefty pacer who's quicker than anyone iv ever faced (vr talking mid to high 80 mph) and hes skiddy. So right after missed the first one by a couple of months i immediately told him to try n keep the lengths full as the pitch has low bounce and its hard to duck under fast short pitched ones as they sometimes keep low. He complied for the most part but gave in to the temptation with my final delivery to face and bowled a short one aimed at my body. It kept low but not low enough to meet my backfoot defence and i got hit flush on my bottom hand index finger. Now what surprised me is how bad it hurt. I thought its dislocated for sure. I guess i got lucky it missed the joints and hit on the bone. I was wearing the Ca player edition gloves which i assumed provide good protection but clearly dont. So it makes me wonder if sausage finger type gloves would fare better in such circumstances. Just wanna learn from this and avoid a future catastrophe. Have a day job and the last thing i need is a broken finger. What are your thought? Do split finger types provide better protection or sausage finger? Or is this just a case of bad gloves?

Sausage fingers with pre-bent inserts are much much stronger than split fingers.

You have to remember that the gloves are all you've got between a hard ball (in this case travelling at speed) and a hard handle.

No matter how good the protection is, its likely to hurt if you get hit on a finger as this is the area of the glove with the least padding to disperse the impact.

Sausage fingers will provide better impact dispersion than splits, so you could say they offer better protection
