Aussie shopping list
« on: November 09, 2018, 01:32:24 AM »

So whilst I'm out here I am looking at getting a couple of bits and pieces (bats) to bring home along with my Ace stash. Current thoughts on brands to consider are:

Icon- I had a Signature for a while from Romida, but looking at getting another or a Reserve.
Focus
TNF
JP Gavan

Considering getting Remfry whilst I'm here as well.

Anyone else got suggestions for smaller Aussie brands to look at?

Aussie GNs have always seemed like a sound investment to sell on the forum!  ;)

Grove, the bats I think Voges used? TNF for me though.

Find someone who makes the bats in Australia surely - you can buy stickered up SS/Larsons etc anywhere in the world!

Grove is a good shout. Also Coopers look decent.

@edge assume you mean Icon for the stickered up SS/Larsons? I know focus aus were Indian made for a while but thought production had moved back to Aus.

Don't know the exact source but all of those are Indian manufactured? (don't know Coopers) Would assume Focus would have been shouting from the rooftops about it if they were getting them made domestically suddenly. Their black gloves though, mmm...

McVicar got mentioned as a batmaker on here a while back?

Only the top grade Grove are made in Aus? Bradbury's a great shout, don't know how I missed that.

Josh Gavan gets in handled clefts and shapes them, pressed them himself.

https://coopercricket.com.au
According to their site they are made in Brisbane

most of the brands mentioned in the original post are all sticker brands...

ulysses and hitman cricket are also both sticker brands...

as for josh @ jpgavan...he definitely buys prepressed handled clefts and shapes himself...that said some of his bats look amazing!

McVicars is the pick for me...stoked with the bat i purchased from him earlier in the year and will most definitely purchase further bats from him in the future...
