Steven Smith with his first century since his ban. Batted rather nicely

Don’t think the booing of smith or warner will bother them overly. I wouldn’t myself if I was in the crowd but they can have no complaints really. It wasn’t the act of ball tampering so much as the bear faced lies to try to cover it and let a junior member take the rap.

Nothing changes the fact that both Smith and Warner are superb batsmen-there’s no argument there

The Aussies could make it far if they both fire.

They will do this to almost every team in the tournament. No mercy.

I note from the Cricinfo report that Root was bowling a mixture of offies and leggies - indeed picking up one of his wickets with a deceptive leg-break.

I was mildly intrigued as I wasn't aware he could mix it up like this, and also that he wasn't bowling much (if at all) due to a suspect back.

Did anyone see the game or see him bowl? was this actually the case?

Root bowled mainly leg breaks.

Still seems ridiculous that Pant couldn’t get selected over Shanker or Karthik

Agreed, think he is leagues above both of them personally. Especially after a decent IPL

Pant lacks the maturity required. Even if he was in the squad, I dont think he would have been the first choice in the XI. Vijay Shankar gives an added advantage of an additional seam option which could be useful in English conditions.
