Your correct he beat  the edge  that he would have hit if he hadn't bowled short giving Aussies a dream dream start.

Classic Finch vs England - slowish ton then out immediately. Great record on one hand, but on the other can you imagine any of the England top order taking 20 balls to get through the 90s and then putting one up in the air next ball?
