Can’t see any other options for us England fans

So much hope for this tournament I had us down as one of the best 4 sides in the tournament.
But...there is no bad luck bad pitches or really bad selection...yes we needed Roy badly...I don’t think any reasonable fan can have many complaints..

We are not quite good enough in big match situations

And...I’ve just read an interview with Bairstow...hmmm

Well...I’m sure others will read it too. I think..sorry Jonny we know some of the pundits wind up the team but nothing has changed over the years...you got to do the business on the field mate

Wouldn’t read too much into it tbh. At the end of the game there was plenty of hugs going around between the Indians and Windies. Those two sets of players seem pretty tight

On a random note, India will supposedly wear orange (!!!) on Sunday.

I cant even imagine players like Jonny playing for a team from the sub continent where media misses no opportunity to shred the team and players to pieces when the team loses. He would have a nervous breakdown!

He should focus his energies on the field instead.

He certainly took the bait here!

Big baby Bairstow, it’s always someone else’s fault.

Rabada's been poor all world cup - down on pace too

Faf has come out and had a go at him too.

Good start from SL - few sides not wanting SL to win today

Not sure why Bairstow felt the need to take the bait like has done, but in essence he does have a point about the media. That being said, it's just the classic English/British pessimism; since Tuesday I've been terrified and can't help but feel like we're going to lose. I really, really hope I'm wrong, like.

@mo_town makes the point very well, this is not India or Pakistan where the fans are far more demanding, I see the point about our press and agree some of the comments 'appear' to be they are not behind the team...

But really that's part and parcel of a big tournament and its nothing new. I think it's very fair to expect England to get to the last four..we are not going to get there and there will be a lot of upset fans but the team have got to perform on the pitch. We have only beaten the weaker teams in this tournament.

The ICC overseas the pitches and everyone knew that way before the tournament so it's no good him saying they are not 'typical English wickets'.

What he wants are flatter than flat decks so the bowlers can't move it around at all-therefore putting our own bowlers at a disadvantage.

New Zealand, Pakistan and Australia have come here on some tricky pitches and got results.

We cannot adapt our batting that's the problem..read that as not good enough to if you want.

It really is depressing to see Rabada in this world cup. For a young guy, he looks burned out. Lacking the fire! Faf commented on Rabada's IPL stint but surely that cannot be the only reason.

Faf wanted Rabada to ditch his $620,000 IPL deal when the South Africans are getting paid pretty poorly by their board...yeah I don’t think Rabada would ever have entertained that.
