Hypothetically, did they decide that they'd rather we got through than the alternative?

Erm....I don't know is the answer, commentary said they might be protecting their run rate, but they are already thru to the semis

It don't make sense. If they would rather us went thru that statement hints towards match fixing.

apart from anything else most of the crowd was Indian, the team has a duty to go for the win

If that was England I'd be mighty upset they way they played the last 10

I do feel it was the not chased intentionally by dhoni. He didn't even try. He didn't take review for Roy's caught behind despite being experienced for those

Not of the traditional variety - I think they started out to compete but, set a tough target, decided, you know what, its not the worst thing if Pakistan go out.

I didn't see the England vs India game but I saw the highlights. Archer had 1 dropped catch and 1 that landed close to the slip fielder. Other bowlers got their men out as well. It seemed like England bowlers had a: done their homework about areas to bowl to each Indian batsman and b: actually bowled the lines and length they had had homeworked for their intended oppo batsman. Same on the batting side, they knew whom to target and how to target them. It looked like homework was done by England and game executed as planned.

Congratulations England.  Pathetic from Dhoni.  I hope he retires after the WC.  I am also not sure if Pant is #4 batsman.

Not sure why kohli complained about the short boundary on one side - it was the same for both sets of bowlers!

Don't know why they don't play Jadeja at6-7 and promote everone else up or Play Kartik at 4. Pant is crap irresponsible,he needs to man up before he could bat for India. Hate it when he smile/laugh after he makes a mistake while batting. Shows no regret

Hard to believe what I saw at the game yesterday. No intent to hit after pandya got out. Team india did not even try to win.
Credit to england. Their fielding was superb, clearly they showed that it was a do or die game for them.
I am just disappointed.. Specially after going all the way to.see the game.

At the gray nicolls stand saw kane Williamson's bat and alex was making couple for shaun marsh. Will shAre pics next week when I go back home.

Jadeja would be in any other team in the world, gun fielder, aggressive batsman, good tight spinner....

impossible to work out why India think they don't need his experience..you would have to think Pant is a better cricketer than him and I just cant get my head round that.

Have noticed after watching the IPL and a few other limited overs games that Dhoni has played in, swometimes he just doesn't seem to fire!
His consistancy is what they should be worrying about. He is not getting any younger but still think that he has a lot to offer India!!
Maybe move him down 1 place in the batting line-up? What is the alternative? Pant?? He looked very fidgity and inexperienced yesterday.
I think that once Pant gets a bit more experience he will be ready to take over from Dhoni....but at the moment, he needs to gain that experience (judging by yesterday!)

Replace Jadhav with Jadeja.  I do not believe you will lose any in batting but Jadeja's fielding alone will save you 10 or so runs per game.

I would replace Pant with Karthik.  I do not see why the Indian fans think so highly of Pant.  For me he is a hit and giggle guy with no sense on how to play based on game situation.

Edit 2: Anyone have any insight on why SL keep shuffling De Silva up and down the order?  It seems like every game SL has played his batting position is different.
