Since the semifinal spots are pretty much set, how about a combined fifteen based on performance/consistency, with designated starting eleven.

Combined 15 - Warner, Rohit, Williamson (captain), Root, Kohli, Shakib, Carey (wk), Starc, Bumrah, Boult/Ferguson, Tahir.  The reserve player are Finch, Bairstow (backup keeper, extra batsmen), Chahal

Disappointment 15 - Gayle, Amla, Smith, Ross Taylor, Du Plessis (captain), De Kock (wk), Maxwell, Cummins, Rashid Khan, Rabada, Hasan Ali.  Reserve player - Dhoni (wk, extra batsmen), Woakes, Fakhar, Hope, Pandya

My expectation of Woakes was a lot higher, especially since he was considered the leader of the England attack and someone who can bat.  His bowling figures are middle of the pack and batting was pretty much non existent other than the game where he came in one down after Roy was injured.  Heck Cummins has better figures than Woakes and he still ended up in the disappointed in performance team :D.  For me both Woakes and Cummins are excellent players.

Woakes bowled like 3 straight maidens and got a wicket in his first spell against India. What more do you want?!

How’s stokes not in your top 15?

He’s took wickets. Ridiculous catches!! And carried England on his back with the tail when we’ve failed at the top!

He nearly won two games on his Todd!

Plus he played that ridiculous switch hit for six.

How's Pandya on the 2nd list?  :o
He has scored runs, taken wickets and fielded well.

Woakes did have moments of brilliance but I do not believe he was consistent.  Stokes barely missed out being in the first team but Shakib was better overall plus he provided the 2nd spin option in the eleven.  If Shakib got injured and needed to be replaced would I have been able to get 10 overs per game from Stokes without impacting his batting?  I do not believe that would have been possible so I would have replace him with one of the other pace bowlers and have Root/Williamson the 2nd spinner role.  As of right now Shakib is player of the tournament for me.  Pandya numbers are not great.  187 from 7 innings and 7 wickets.  I expected better from him especially after Dhawan was injured and he got more opportunity to bat.

Disappointing WC for Gayle - he's usually pretty good at smashing weaker sides.

Windies should do away with Gayle tbh. They should be building the side around Lewis, Hope, Hetmyer and Pooran.

Talented Combined Team - under 26yrs - Lots of bowling options, but batsman were slim picking.

Adian Markham (captain), Hope, Babar, Pooran, Hetmyer, Pandya, Pant(keeper), Cummins, Archer, Rashid Khan, Bumrah, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Avishka Fernando, Mustafizur Rahman, Ikram Alikhil/  Liton Das,

Players who missed out - Shabad Khan, Kuldeep Yadav, Andile Phehlukwayo, Lungi Ngidi, Rahmat Shah (it was a tough WC for spinners)

Ikram Alikhil is excellent prospect for Afg when he has the chance to bat higher up the order.  He has a low strike rate but he has the potential to get better as he gains experience since he is only 18 yrs old.

Things that are nutty this tournament

- Including the Pak/Ban game tomorrow, we'll have had a total of 3 dead rubbers in a 48 game tournament

- Kohli not scoring a ton

- 300+ only being chased down successfully once

@shadowlight the only list Markram should be on is the disappointments. Not just for the world cup, but ODIs in general!

They should move to the IPL style format for the knockout stage, with 1 vs 2, winner to the final and loser to play the winner of 3 vs 4.
