Big bash 2018/19
« on: December 19, 2018, 09:08:08 AM »

We probably need a bbl thread as it started today.

Reasonable to say I think the bat spinning flats vs roofs nonsense is stupid.

As were Matthew Haydon's jeans at the first toss...

Looks like Tom Curran had a good game, despite ending up on the losing side

Please can someone explain why this tournament is better than the Blast? It’s very average and the overseas apart from Buttler, Khan and Jofra...

The quality of cricket in the Big Bash has been on a steady decline for the past couple of years. This is mainly due to the young local talent being average at best. The fact that the home side and SA play tests around the same time doesnt help matters as well since most of the superstars are absent.

The big bash has never really been about quality or taking itself seriously. It’s nearly always been ‘fun’ to watch and feels more like light entertainment.. the way the commentators joke around, players are miked up and are willing to have a laugh etc.

I’m not a fan of 2020 but the BBL is good light entertainment.

The IPL thinks it’s some super duper completion and itself way to seriously.. fact is it’s barely much better in quality really. The blast is a curious mix of too serious and some good fun. It can’t seem to decide what it wants to be..

Nothing wrong with 2020 being about fun though as it’s hardly the format anyone really cares about the qualitu as

Simple - blast has too many teams which dilutes talent. Also most t20 specialists rather play in the cpl

Aussies have done well filling big stadiums and getting the public to buy in to it - Bigger crowds than international games.

I agree the quality is on the downwards slope, cricket Australia should’ve probably allowed warner and smith to participate.

Blast attendance rising year on year, BBL falling off a cliff. Finals Day is a proper event.

The IPL is a money laundering exercise second only to New York City.

Can’t really compare 6-8000 attendence with 25000+

I've seen a few BBL games this year and they've all been half full - I'm sure they're getting less and less showing up.
