Big Bash 2017/18: 19th December -> 4th February = 48 days
IPL 2018: 7th April -> 27th May = 51 days
Vitality Blast 2018 (Group games to quarter finals*): 4th July ->  27th August = 55 days
Big Bash 2018/19: 19th December -> 17th February = 61 days

*I have only included fixtures up to Quarter Finals as there was a 19 day gap between that and Finals Day (15th September)

There is probably a correlation between length of 2020 tournament and the amount of quality players in it. Shorter the better I would think.. longer it is, the less quality

That's nothing, the premier league has been going since August and still has 4 months to go.

Maybe someone should tell them there's such a thing as too much of a good thing and they'd be better off knocking our on the head in September.

Football is also infinitely more popular and in demand. Let’s be honest, the vast majority of people could care less about whatever format you want to push on them. Cricket just isn’t snd will never be popular regardless of format

I believe the lower number of audience of cricket as a sports is due to soo many formats and its hard for a new-viewer or potential viewership to contemplate all these changes in each format and jargon used in cricket.

I think the negligence of T20 is due to belittlement of T20 cricket by former or past cricketers, which makes audience  and the current cricket setup to think it as of a lesser format or not "true cricket". Example -I have heard same ex-cricketers criticizing T20 who were the part of Kerry Packer league who also left their national team to play in non recognized league for money now the same ex-players are saying that the money and glamour is hurting/harming the game and is not "true cricket", was that not the same case when they joined the Kerry Packer league.

To get new viewership the game should be less complicated for people to understand and follow, I too like Test cricket but tbh this is not same for everyone and more particularly for newer audience.

There are so many variation across all different format for a non follower to understand which makes it less appealing to newer audience.

If ICC wants to improve on the current state and declining popularity of the game then they should be  making the game less complex, may be say good-bye to 50 overs games. And take T20 with more respect and be seriousness.
After all; the sports are for entertainment they should be left that way rather over complicating the things. ICC and local boards should work with local schools to promote inter school Tennis/tape ball T20 leagues in various countries. Having 1-2 odd matches or a league in places like North America will not grasp the new audience. Because in those places the crowd that is turning up  to watch are the people from countries where cricket is already popular and this will not serve any purpose.

Having Tennis/tape ball tournaments will improve the knowledge and interest of the local public in say "non-cricketing" Nations.

Watching the game tonight and seeing Vince bat it really makes me wonder how he wasnt able to nail down a Test spot. All the shots in the world, England have missed out

Remember reading a piece not too long ago about the % of false shots played by each player in tests, Vince had one of the lower false shot percentages but one of the highest of dismissals from them. Can't remember the author, someone else may have read it and remember who wrote it.

Shows the importance of luck. Someone like moeen who has an abundance of it. The Aussies also had the stat that Ali play’s and misses the most in international cricket

I remember when the Big Bash was something for the blast to look up to, not entirely sure that’s the case anymore.

BBL semi finals time - yes its still going on after 2 months!

Most overseas pros have left and gone home for international duty. Very poor tournament organisation from Cricket Aus.

The best team of the tournament - Hobart on the verge of going out. The top side should get rewarded and go straight into the finals, but the BBL prefer the semi final format

If the stars win this, its difficult to see them beaten in the finals. Maxwell and stonis seem to have hit form

BBL used to be the best T20 comp in my opinion, but now it just goes on and on. The appeal for me was the 4/5 week period it was played.

Just another example of the cricket administration seeing a cash cow and then milking it for all it's worth. There was talk even at the end of the last BBL season as to what affect the additional games would cause, for an English perspective watching the games through TV it seems the crowds have been massively down compared to previous years.

I think the BBL has a few issues that it needs to sort out:
1 - reduce the number of games being played so that the overall tournament length is shorter.

2- attract more A list stars to the competition. This issue is not helped by the rule that no Indian who is registered with an IPL franchise can play in another T20 tournament.

3- Make sure your test players also play in the tournament. It just boggles the mind sometimes when you see the BBL mixed in with international cricket. The Vitality blast is also guilty of this to be fair and only the IPL can be considered a truly worldwide tournament.

The BBl was once the 'model' tournament but that may no longer be the case. The 100 supports this statement in that the ECB feel they cannot simply copy and paste the BBL formula into the English scene, it needs to have an extra differentiating factor.

The world is now covered in franchise T20 leagues, each trying to get a slice of the action. If new tournaments continued to be added to the calendar, then the amount of quality on show will only decrease as international player participation is spread even thinner. The market will become so saturated that the smaller competitions will collapse.

I really do hope that Cricket Australia learn from this year but sadly if the figures suggest growth then there's no incentive from them do change anything come winter 2019

Renegades have somehow managed to find their way into the finals.
Christian with a cameo to take his side home.

Sixers were missing Curran - odd that CA would arrange a tournament where most of the international players aren't available for the key semi's and finals.

Embarrassing for the BBL that the BPL had bigger international stars playing
